FYI there is a gas thief on the lake.

I left my boat in the lift a week ago with ¾ tank of fuel. This weekend I noticed the cover was off one corner but guessed it blew off so we loaded up and went for a ride up river. My stepson was driving and we stopped to fish so I took over to navigate some shallow water. I noticed the fuel gauge on empty and asked him if it was like that when we left our pier. He didn’t know, so we headed for a marina but only made it 500 yds! Thank goodness for a nice family that towed us in. Now I’m looking for a locking gas cap.

Sorry to hear about your problem, What part of the lake are you on? Every year on various parts of the lake just like any city we usually are in during the week have some sort of mischief or theft happen somewhere. Recently I added my name to a notification called "dockwatch". It is supported by the Pell City PD and while I am out of their area of patrol it is informative as far as info of mischief on the lake. you can add your name to the list or report your incident at Direct Contact: (205) 368-3294 dockwatch@epell.net Never hurts having the info or the number to report the incident. Please let us know what part of the lake your on...... Its a big lake.

I am just below Clear Creek, Talladega side, main channel. If I recall from other post, you are near here also Movinfr8. I have read the forum for years but only posted a few times.

I hope my theft was an isloated instance.

Wish I could say it was isolated. Just like any neighborhood in any city in any state crime will occur and there is scum everywhere. Yes I am just around the corner from you just past waters edge in the bog slu. Recently I joined the email chain from the Pell City PD called Dock Watch..... I am out of their jurisdiction but still I am interested in what happens on other parts of the lake and They may be interested in hearing about your incident. Here is the contact info and send me an email and I will forward one of the emails so you can see if you would be interested in getting them.
