Hats off to Elon Musk and Space X. A huge rocket booster, almost as tall as a football field is long, launched a similarly huge payload and then navigated itself back to its launch point and settled in to a specially designed catching mechanism, to be refurbished and launched once again. Anyone with the least appreciation for physics and chemistry will understand how monumental a feat that was. No matter your politics, you have to appreciate Elon Musk and his contributions to private industry space travel.

Elon is huge asset to the USA and humanity.  I watched the landing.  It was AWESOME!!  My respect for him continues to grow.  Having him agree to lead the commission on government waste is encouraging.  Remember, he cut Xwitter payroll by about 80%, never shut down, managed to make massive changes with less crew, and is working today with the reduced payroll.  I am sure the government can withstand simular cuts.

Since Carter created the DOE the education in ths counrty has gone from 5th to about 27th place in the world.  Why does it still exist? The last stat I saw was the schools get about 7% of their money from the FEDS but give them total control of the product. It's insane!!  It is also where all the woke BS comes from.

I have a suggestion for Donald after he is sworn in.    After a package that was sent by the USPS via Certified Mail on October 9, was supposed to have arrived by the 11th, and still is in transit to a location that I could have walked to and delivered myself, put ELON in charge of either shutting the USPS down for good or take charge and start delivering mail via rocket ship.  This inefficiency is characteristic of the ENTIRE federal bureaucracy.

Probably need to add FedEx as well.  Neighbor was waiting on a package and FedEx said it was delivered to her front door.  It wasn't there and she asked around the neighborhood, to no avail.  She was eventually contacted via Fakebook by someone TWO MILES away who found the package in the middle of their front yard.

Catching a rocket is cool stuff. Just wish Elon could figure out how to keep Tesla's battery  safe from salt water so it doesn't catch on fire.

I suspect someone took the package  from  the woman's house and dropped it in the other yard. I doubt FEDEX would have a pic of the  package  after it is  delivered and then drive down the street and dump  it  on someones lawn.

DeJoy, the Postmaster General, is a Republican appointed under Trump by  the PO Board of Governors. He has cut back service to reduce losses. Imagine, a Republican reduces losses and is now criticized by fellow Republicans.

I saw an interview with him talking about the idea of getting rid of the weight of the landing legs by having the tower grab the booster.  His engineers told him he was crazy but he told them to try anyway.  That is part of his genius I think.  Doesn't let the "experts" dissuade him from a good idea but give them the courage to try.

Did not see anything about a picture regarding the delivery mentioned.  I often get Fedex without a pic  - just left on porch.

Do not remember if it was fedex, UPS or USPS last year tossed one in the bushes 7 blocks away.

2 years ago had gun parts delivered to a Hospice by Fedex and was suprised when I got the "delivered" notice with required signature without actual delivery or signature after watching the truck drive past.  Called up Fedex wanting to know where the delivery was as it was a 90% full firearm.  That got their attention.  The lady at the hospice came back after hours and was very happy to get it correctly delivered !!!

I have high doubts as to your explanation that someone else took it and placed it in someone elses yard.

As for the fact he was appointed by Trump who cares - USPS has been in a death spiral since most people prefer electronic, for a lot longer then Trumps appointment of the postmaster.

How is Trump's Postmaster  related to crappy FedEx service?  And where did I say something about a picture?  As it so happens, our neighbor texted us a picture of the package taken in the yard 2miles away where it was " delivered". She also said FedEx provided a picture of the supposedly delivered package, but it only showed one corner of the package and nothing that would indicate WHERE it was "delivered".

Goofy, only you could direct a comment about FedEx to the USPS and Trump.  Dude, you got it bad and seriously need some mental health care.  Oh, and on another note, Tesla doesn't manufacture their own batteries.  It's mostly Panasonic and some others (CATL, LG, BYD, etc.).

Looks like Goofy hasn't forgotten how to flag a post.

Have you seen the huge battery factory being built next to I 85 between Atlanta and Andersen, SC?  I didn't note its exact location, but it is about half way and surely looks like the Chinese are horning in domestic battery production.  Hope I am wrong.

As superior as lithium ion technology is to other battery designs, the battery is still the Achilles Heel of electric vehicle progress.  The Government needs to redirect all the money it is throwing down the drain on vehicles using current technology to basic research that will come up with a real solution to the EV conundrum.

You would think  that Tesla could figure out how to encase the battery so it would not be exposed to water.

Yeah, cause it happens so often that they need more weight and costs for a rare event.  SMH.
