Been at the lake since 2003 and have never seem ticks like this year. 3 on me and 3 on my wife in the last two weeks. Looks like I'm gonna have to go DEET before every dog walk from now on. And they are tiny. Hard to see and hard to remove. Wonder what has changed that's causing them to be such a problem.

Even with their flea/tick treatment, I notice those tiny little ticks coming in on their coats.

Weird for us as we have been at the lake since 2003 and have never seen so many ticks. In fact, I don't recall ever getting one on me even though we've had our dogs almost the entire time. I really hate ticks.

It's the tiny ones that carry lyme disease. Google how to remove them completely. Wear light colored clothing as it is easier to see them before they get on your skin.
Ask your vet for a prescription for a tick preventer like Heartguard or similar.
Ticks and Dems have one thing in common...the Trumpsters fear both of them.

I detest ticks and don't fear Dems.......I do detest activist leftists though which is about 20% of Dems.
As for the vet suggestion all that does is keeps ticks from embedding into the dog. Doesn't keep them off the dog and makes them more likely to jump from the dog to their owner. Given we stay on trails and the dog doesn't that's how we assume we got them on us.

A DEM would avoid trails and keep their dog on a leash. A REP walks on trails, let's their dog run loose, and then complains about ticks.

Goofy, you got this all wrong. Studies have shown that leftists strongly prefer cats while conservatives prefer dogs. You know, the cats that run wild all over the place. But leave it to you to make this about political views.
And yes, we let our dog run and get exercise on trails where we can. Where leashes are required we keep him on a leash. And no, we don't wear a mask either. It's called freedom.
But the original point I was making stands....ticks are worse this year then ever. We have been walking our dogs off a leash on trails around the lake since 2003 and never once had an issue with ticks. This year for some reason is different. That was the sum total of my post and it had nothing to do with politics because my life is not consumed by politics as yours apparently must be.

" But leave it to you to make this about political views." You need to loosen up...Lifer injected some political humor but you must have him on ignore along with Archie. FYI>>>here's is Lifer's post..."I'm with you, I can't stand liberal democrats either...lol."and maskshave to dowith you
I still can't figure what vaccines and masks have to do with walking your dog and ticks. I do suggest as a very serious suggestion that when you walk your dog on the trails and decide to wear a mask that you wear a white rather than black mask as the white mask will enable you to visually see the ticks before they attach to you.

Goofy, it's not just the injection of politics in this thread. It's that you do it with every single thread. It's like telling a funny joke over and over....it stops being funny.

And I can't stand wacko MAGA insurrectionists but what does that have to do with Lake Martin and ticks.
My opinion: Keep your dumb political comments to yourself on this "Lake Martin Specific" forum.

If your pets on not on a tick/flea prevention with ivermectin please do it this year. For humans who are bitten by a tick, ivermectin paste can be bought at tractor supply or Amazon. Lyme is awful.

Courtesy Boy Scouts of America. Keep a bottle of sulfur powder handy. Sprinkle some in the top of socks. No socks? Mist lower legs and dust with sulfur. Another shot into the top of underwear for sure. It works.
Doggo? Put a teaspoon of sulfur in their wet food before your walk. They can smell it in skin and back away.
