Atl Mayor Bottoms addressing with far left Andrew Yang the so called inequality in the Old Fourth Ward, proposes this novel and intelligent solution;
For many Atlantans, she said, “it is too difficult, way too difficult, to make it work financially, despite hard work. ... We need to consider bold solutions.”
So what exactly is her proposed BOLD solution? Why, Universal Guaranteed Income of course. She cloaks her idea in that it will be funded by "philanthropists", but we all know when these "philanthropists" balk, it will fall on the philanthropy of the GA taxpayor. This further validates my point that if you are middle of the road or less in intelligence, then politics is a viable career choice. And yet Atlanta citizens continue to vote for this degree of leadership and mental acumen.

Unfortunately, it would seem that the solution, according to most Democrats, is to "give" not train or discipine the system so that people have to find a way to earn more money. We've got thousands of people that have benefitted from the "giving" since the Johnson Administration and have become adept at figuring out ways to get more, without having to work for it. If those people put the same amount of effort into earning, there would be no stopping them.
I've got a soon to be ex, daughter in law, whose greatest impediment to working is that she refuses to get up in the morning and can't be on time. She thinks public assistance is her solution.

She obviously subscribes to the theory that if you rob Peter to pay Paul, you can always count on the support of Paul. Frankly, she will be an improvement over the last two Atlanta mayors if she just doesn't end up in prison after she leaves office.

This was Shirley Franklin's bold solution back in the day:
"I REGRET THAT I DIDN’T DO MORE. WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE IS BEEN A STRONGER ADVOCATE. THE FIRST AND EASIEST THING TO DO WOULD HAVE BEEN TO USE THE BULLY PULPIT TO TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF REACHING BACK AND HELPING PEOPLE AT THE LOWEST END. I KNOW THAT I OFFERED ALTERNATIVES IN CITY GOVERNMENT. FOR INSTANCE, WE INCREASED THE MINIMUM WAGE THAT WAS BEING PAID TO CITY EMPLOYEES. THAT SEEMS LIKE A SMALL THING, BUT THERE WERE CITY EMPLOYEES WHO WERE EARNING LESS THAN $20,000 A YEAR WORKING 40 HOURS A WEEK WHEN I CAME INTO OFFICE. AS SOON AS THERE WAS MONEY, WE RAISED THAT, AND WE TOOK SEASONAL EMPLOYEES AND MOVED THEM INTO FULL-TIME POSITIONS. THAT WAS AN EFFORT TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF INCOME FOR WORKING MEN AND WOMEN WHO WERE DOING A GOOD JOB, BUT WHO WERE VASTLY UNDERPAID. WE RAISED THE FLOOR, BUT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TALKING TO EVERYONE AND MAKING THE WAGE RATE IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA AND IN THE CITY OF ATLANTA, BEYOND CITY HALL, AN ISSUE.
Franklin said that her other regret was that she “really didn’t do much around education” while in office. As she noted: “I’m an advocate for education and some alternatives like charter schools, but I could have done more. I could have brought more people together to force the discussion about how our children were continuing to fall behind, and I didn’t do that.”
Well, why the he77 not Shirley? Did the power brokers of the ATL have better ideas?

I know this is a LM forum, however, my point in this discussion is to bring to anyone's attention that Andrew Yang was in the ATL stumping for Ossoff and Warnock and "just happened" to raise the issue of income inequality and guaranteed income. Talk about dragging a dollar bill through the mobile home park.....

Two thoughts. First, how typical of a big government leftist that standing up and saying things ought to be in defiance of basic economics and the reality businesses face is oh so typical.
Second, I can assure you the reason she didn't jack about the crappy schools in Atlanta is because she was raking in the dough from the teacher's unions and wasn't going to risk that cash cow to help the lives of families and children in the city. And yet they continue to slavishly vote for the very same policies. And over the last decade they've abandoned the city for counties like Cobb with low taxes, low crime, great schools, etc. Of course like parasites they move here and then vote for the very same idiotic politicians that hold a failed ideology and will completely screw up another area.
They literally must think something magical happens when you cross the Chattahoochee and I-285....it isn't magical, it's good governance with conservative principles. People in Cherokee and Forsyth County be advised. Once they've destroyed Cobb County they will continue to migrate north like swarms of locusts destroying everything in their path.

I suspect that the schools have failed so miserably in teaching kids where Government money comes from that the recipients of Government "largesse" simply do not comprehend that it is hard working taxpayers who provide the Government with that same money. Their view is that the Government is this huge entity with warehouses full of cash and they want to "get their just due". One of these days the charade will come to an end and the ones who believe they are entitled to Government money will realize where it really comes from and try to go take it from the money source (taxpayers) by force. I hope it never comes to that but it is a real possibility.

Cobb County Election Fraud??????

Cobb County Ga. maybe the biggest change in margin of votes then any county in the USA. Here is a list of vote margin for the past few Presidential elections.
2008 McCain 54% 10 Percentage Points
Obama 44%
2012 Romney 55% 12 Percentage Points
Obama 42%
2016 Clinton 48% 2 Percentage Points
Trump 46%.
2020 Biden 56%. 14 Percentage Points
Trump 42%
That is a 700% increase from 2016 to 2020. There must be fraud in Cobb County or as Martini described it a mass arrival of Democrats. So the question to Martini…which is it fraud or a migration?
If it is fraud what do you plan to do to fix it or if it is migration why do you stay?

And I can't blame them. They used to live in 3rd world sh!thole counties and states. Sadly they are too dumb to understand why Cobb County is such a great place to live and raise a family. They think it's a miracle of geography. They are that stupid. And sadly, once they turn Cobb County into a 3rd wrold sh!thole by electing Democrats they will migrate again.....such is the life of parasites. Invade the host, kill it and move onto the next one. Sort of like what you are doing to Florida.

Oh it has nothing to do with skin color......has everything to do with the mistaken belief that government is the solution to every problem when in reality government is the problem. Apparently that ignorance knows no boundaries with regard to race, gender or sexual orientation.

If you are that unhappy move. No need to live in Cobb County and not be proud to post about your County. I assume you are empty nesters or close to it and suggest you buy a nice condo in another county on a golf course. It ain't going to get any better..no need to keep fighting it.
The parasites are going to slowing eat away your lifestyle so throw in the towel and move on. Life is too short to hate your surroundings. There is nothing that requires you to live in the county.

If and when the inevitable result of Democrat policies occurs I will indeed relocate. That's what intelligent people do. Goofy, there's a reason I didn't live in Fulton or Dekalb county. I had a choice when I moved here and I looked for a county with reasonable taxes, conservative governance, low crime and good schools.
It's been a good run and like intelligent people I have voted for office holders that I knew would preserve that way of life. When we get outnumbered by the parasites we can either stick around and live with it or move......the difference is that I am not going to be the one responsible for the destruction of a great place to live. That's on the parasites like you that refuse to live in cesspool you created but move to other places and ruin their lives and their communities. But parasites don't see it that way. They seem to think they are owed the fruits of our labor and have zero guilt about sharing the misery of their ideology....actually they prefer to force the misery of their ideology on others.
You are such a hypocrite. You moved to Florida because of the quality of life and no state income tax. But now you vote for idiot politicians that will screw all that up. How about this idea? Stay in the cesspool you created and leave the rest of us to live our lives the way we want.

"Stay in the cesspool you created and leave the rest of us to live our lives the way we want." What cesspool? You seem bitter...move to Cherokee County and quit bitching cause you backed a loser.
As to the reason I moved to Florida...like Trump to avoid state income tax. You should consider it too.

The cesspool is Fulton and Dekalb counties and states like CA, NY, MA, IL and so on run into the ground by Dems. How about this idea? You idiots that believe so much in govt stay where you are and leave us alone and quit ruining everything you touch. Like I said, you are a complete hypocrite. You moan and whine about Trump's tax program while at the same time flee to Florida to avoid taxes. Your lack of self awareness and any sense of shame is astounding......but not surprising. Truly pathetic....
What is the next state you are going to ruin if enough of you parasites move to Florida and raise taxes? You perfectly and completely proved my point. You vote for higher taxes and then move to another state because taxes are too high, vote for higher taxes and then move to another state. What are you going to do when you run out of hosts to kill? Exactly what happens to every parasite.

I am fine with his tax cut as it has saved me a ton of money. I just have an issue with the debt and how the Right has suddenly accepted the increase in the debt. Florida runs on tax from tourist and Covid is really hurting us as the revenue is way down.
Follow Trump to Florida and quit bitching. Relocate your entire company here as we would love to have you join the NO TAX state. How much space do you need? I have the perfect location for both your Corporate headquarters and your residence on a choice of golf courses. And for you, there are few parasites.

And you wouldn't have to move and ruin states like Florida. Unlike you parasites I prefer to stay here and try to save the state and county I live in. However, if I did move to Florida, TN or some other county or state I wouldn't be a hypocrite or a parasite like you because I would have tried to save where I currently live by my votes.
And take your concern about deficits and shove them where the sun don't shine. You did nothing to complain about them when Obama incurred them. I too am concerned about deficit spending but what's the point in complaining in the middle of a pandemic? What I can and do complain about is the insane and completetly worthless shutdown of the economy as it necessitates the need for stimulus packages and reduces economic output.....all for nothing. The reality is blue states like NY, CA, IL, etc. are using the pandemic and shutdowns in the hope that the Federal govt will bail out their pension liabilities and other spending, not to mention the lost tax revenue from people fleeing the states and parasitically moving to better run states.
