so is it too early to start the pump system back up?  Things are blooming and I want to restart the lawn pump.  Too cold still?

Go ahead now, as long as you don't mind a little snow blocking things up....

All primed up and pimping away?  If it snows I'll pull the plug.  Just doubt a freeze will come ...... famous last words.

That's funny BigFoot.  And we need to "Make LM Forum funny again"   Think Trump could help with that?

Glad I could add some humor to this site!  Big Foot, the pump is pimping away!  And I now have an adult beverage, life is good.  Beautiful day and another tomorrow.  Ready to put the boat back in as the lake comes up.

Many years we have a hard freeze and accumulated snow in mid March thru April 1. Just sayin'..

Well the forecast through 3-14 calls for a low of mid 40's.  hard freeze of 8 hours of freezing temps might have to wait for April.

Coming from a family of Master Gardeners - I have always said you should wait (planting, priming your pump, etc) until the Irises have bloomed.  It rarely freezes after that.   But, it is SO tempting to start digging NOW!

I am not sure about hard freezes and when the danger of us having one ends but for last frost tax day, April 15th is the the safe time. That's when I transfer plants back outside for the season. I don't think we are in any danger of a hard freeze this season. The ten day for cast has no indication of any freeze for us and that takes us through the ides of March and then a hard freeze is very unlikely. And yes I know the biggest snow storm we've ever seen was on March 13th, but even then we didn't get a hard freeze that would have damaged a pump.
