Any recommendations out there for someone or local company to do a sprinkler system overhaul?

Do yourself a favor and call Mickey Voss. Some will jump on here and say he is expensive and that you can do it yourself... yada, yada. Mickey is the best in the area. He can do anything with water. And once you are his client, he will automatically come and shut it down in the winter and bring it up in the Spring for a small fee. He redid my sprinkler system in 2009 and I have never had a problem with it.
His number is 256-397-2570

He has done that for us for years...but has gotten more and more difficult to get in touch with. Says he just doesnt have time to do it. Glad he has so much business that he has to turn away work!

Wow, I didn't realize that. I know he seemed to be a bit late in turning our system on this year. I'm glad he has so much business, but it is too bad if he doesn't make time for his old clients. I'll stop recommending him. Thanks for letting me know.

Call Don Cross with Lakeside Irrigation. Has done a great job for me. 205-616-4806

busy and expensive, a good place to be for him....It really is easy to do it yourself. BTW, I never have any problems I cant fix...and, I'm always there!....yada yada....lol
|
Well, if you like that sort of thing, good for you. But, some of us get to a place in life where, while we could do it, we'd just as soon pay someone else to deal with it.

When it takes less time to build, install, or fix than it does messing with contractors, it's a no brainer for me. To each their own...it's not a matter of money, it's convience. Not that it matters, but I can assure you I'm financialy secure and can afford to pay for anything I need or even want...... I reached that point in life a long time ago.

Bravo, McGill. I'm sure many of us can afford many things. For sprinklers @ the lake I learned a long time ago that becoming a weekend PVC expert is much easier than the frustration of trying to find somebody to do the work. I have a bin of spare parts and there is very little I can't fix - without needing a trip to the store.
|
Not sure why you aimed your comments at me as my comments were not aimed at you. I was only speaking for myself. As to your financial security, good for you. I'm sure everyone on this forum was relieved to hear.

You aren't in D.C. anymore hound. You can't say something then deny it and get away with it. Your snarky comments were in direct response to McGill. Your little passive aggressive comment on financial status reminds me of the days of Feb. He loved to brag about his/halls station in life and put others down who he judges to be less worthy. Of all the folks for you to try and put down you choose someone in a profession known to pay exceptionally well. It only makes you look petty. One thing that doesn't surprise me is that you and feb with you masters degrees cant manage to drain and fill and irrigation system. Maybe I will do a "white paper" on it and email it to you so when the economy collapses you can still use the system.

I should have known you would run your mouth on this one. I have no reason to snark McGill. If he decided to take it as a jab at him, I have no control over his perceptions. I think, if you read my post, I said "good for him" for wanting to tackle these things himself. I was merely trying to help someone find a person to work on his sprinkler system, assuming he did not wish to tackle it himself. I'm sure there are many jobs that are very easy and can be done yourself, even by someone without a college education; however, I am at a point in my life where I would rather give jobs to local businesses rather than mess with it myself. It puts money into the local economy and I feel blessed to have met some fine local trademen and service providers who do a great job.
Yes, we did live in around DC for years, but we have been here almost 8 years now, but I fail to see what that has to do with hiring someone to do some work. As far as education, I will never have to mention it myself, since you do such a good job of broadcasting for me. Poor thing, Feb took you to task years ago and you still can't get over it. He hasn't been on this forum in years.

Yea, he took me to task alright. Seems to me his ban me life campaign was a miserable failure. He embarrassed himself on a regular basis, that's why he left. I do so miss his constant demands that folks prove (to him none the less) that they own waterfront property before being allowed to use Bruce's forum. But my favorite post was him declaring what the greatest accomplishment of the "white man" was.
You're response to McGill, that wasn't really a response to McGill, sure came across as congratulatory of his DIY skills. You can always count on me to respond to your arrogance on parade, and to bring up Feb too. It obviously gets under your skin and that gives me a little joy and entertainment for a few minutes. I would have let it go but for your denial of the obvious attempt deceive. There's an old legal addage...say it forget it, write it regret it! You can't write it in one post and deny it in the next. It only makes you appear delusional.
And BTW- last time i checked your negatives were more than double mine. Thant shickles me tickless.

The Rain-N-Shine is a good one to use especially in wet applications (i.e., when you have water in or on the pipe at the connection point.)

On whether the new pipes were flexible, semi-rigid or rigid. I understand that if they are rigid and stay in that condition for more than four hours that pipe damage may occur.

LP, believe it or not, I am ready to make the final connection. The washer line is done, and the stack for the basin and toilet is run so that it will.vent between the outer gable rafters (soffit vents installed). I am not sure how to connect the entire stack coming down between the studs to the basin and the drain pipe to the septic tank. You going to be up into that neck of the woods any time soon? I still have some pictures of famous dead presidents to give you.
