Can anyone recommend someone to pressure wash and reseal my wood dock and deck? It may need some minor repair as well. I did not see anyone on the list of advertisers on Lake Martin Businesses. I am in Parker Creek.

I'm trying to remember the guys name who did mine but I'm having a mental block. He came recommended from Lake Martin Dock Co. He showed up and did a great job at a fair price. I'll try to come up with a name for you.

Rodney used Deck Restore to renovate my dock. I highly second his recommendation. My dock is beautiful now and it was in really poor shape.

Is that the stuff Home Depot is peddling? From their TV ads it looks like paint that is very thick and requires a lot of elbow grease to apply. Our deck boards are now probably 10 to 12 years old and starting to grow splinters.

Right on the money. I have a friend doing it now. They say it is like spreading peanut butter. But on the upside it seems to work. However Behr says it and stain have about the same life span of 5-7 years only the restore costs more than double. If your lumber is in decent shape it is hard to justify the added expense.

Ours is ready for one of the nuclear options....either the Behr product, cover with I/O carpet, or replace the deck boards altogether.

Buffalo: I am interested in having the deck restore done on my boathouse, but I am debating on whether to do it myself or have it done by a local contractor. Does Rodney charge by the square foot, or by the job? I would be interested in knowing upfront so I don't wate his or my time. Any information you would be willing to provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rodney will have to quote by the job. I researched all the products and chose Rustoleum's Deck Restore, as the product has had a longer favorable track record than Behr's product. At the time, the product from Behr was too unproven in my opinion. The product added expense was justified in my mind with the success rate. My deck and pier had up to 1/8" cracks running throughout. I chose the redwood color and it turned out beautifully. The only downside is the deck is warm on your feet in full sunshine. Rodney Pless is an honest, hard working gentleman who would do a great job whichever product you deem appropriate for your deck.
