Actually not really as this has been discussed ad naueseum but it's interesting to see the hard data directly from the CDC.  So it turns out that the grand total number of people that died exclusively from the Wuhan virus as of 8/22/2020 is 9,700 or a mere 6% of the total.  The rest had an average of 2.6 additional causes of deaths (co-morbidities).  Also, as we already know the percentage of those that died over age 65 is 70%.  The percentage of those under age 25 is 0.2% (0.002).  While they don't break down this stat I would be willing to bet that of those under age 25 that died with the Wuhan virus 100% of them had co-morbidities.  Here's the reality, if you have 2 or 3 co-morbidities and get the flu or pneumonia you have a very high probablity of dying.  Here is the CDC data.

Does the CDC include a listing of the preexisting conditions that are driving the stats?  Other than general statements on the news or whatever, not sure I have seen a thoughtful, factual listing of what the data says.  Such a list would be helpful for really knowing who is most at risk, right?

It runs the gamut but I've heard heart disease, diabetes, COPD, cancer, depressed immune system, etc.  Not sure if they break it down in any detail.  Might try to search the CDC website.  For sure it you are prone to respiratory disease you need to be especially careful.  I think after careful examination of the data we are going to find out that most of these people died from the underlying disease and had simply tested positive for the virus, many of which were probably false positives.  There's a reason that deaths from all other causes have dropped dramatically since February....they are being classified as Wuhan virus deaths.  Hospitals get way more reimbursement from virus patients over regular ones.  Follow the money.

Was talking to a lady after mass who is 80 years old and had injured her shoulder in a fall.  Went to the hospital and despite having zero symptoms they forced her to take a test.  Of course it came back positive and she ended up being there for something like 6 weeks.  She said she never had any symptoms and doesn't believe she had the virus.  I suspect this happens quite a bit.

I've seen this info used as an argument against the seriousness of COVID-19 many times. While the info is probably accurate the fact remains that the virus is still very dangerous for those that have other problems. This info does nothing to decrease the threat.

Anyone that takes that position based on this data is missing the point and is misguided.  What this information does is highlight the fact that we should not keep schools closed for everyone and should instead make accommodations for those students or teachers that have some risk factor either personally or at home.  It points out quite clearly that our emphasis should be on protection of those over age 65 and younger people with co-morbidities and let everyone else go about their business in a prudent way.

The issue I have with our response to this is to take a one size fits all approach.  The widespread closures were unnecessary and caused more harm than good.  This data demonstrates that the Wuhan virus is less deadly than the ordinary flu for people under the age of 65, which is the majority of the working population.  Our response to the virus was driven by politics and not science.

If somebody has lived productive and normal life for decades with asthma, or diabetes, or hypertension, or COPD, or obesity, or any number of other ''ailments...comorbidities'' without ever being seriously ill then one day is diagnosed with COVID 19 and is dead within a week what the hell would you put as a cause of death on the death certificate?  Based on your comments I assume if you wrap your Hummer (you just pop off like an idiot that would drive a hummer) around a bridge abutment and die from heart failure on the way to the emergency room you want the announcement to say you died of a heart attack rather than a fatal accident!!

186,000 Americans are dead and the vast majority of them would be alive today if they had not been infected wit COVID 19!

BTW: NOBODY anywhere has died from a disease called the Wuhan Virus...idiot!

Every one of the examples you listed would not qualify anyone with them as 'having no serious problems'.  Each one is seriuos, especially COPD, under which Asthma falls BTW.

If someone with various unlying health conditions catches the virus, and dies, I say it was the virus. In all probablity, they would still be living with their health conditions had there been no virus. There is no proof and will never be...to totally answer the question.
