Sadly a boater lost their life on Lake Martin. Perhaps this time instead of complaining about the cause or what the person was driving we can all take the time to say a prayer for the family that lost their loved one. The story is below.

Newnan woman dies in watercraft accident
LAKE MARTIN, Ala. (AP) -- A Georgia woman was killed Saturday on Lake Martin in a watercraft accident, authorities said.
Leann McKee Orell, 40, of Newnan, Ga., was pronounced dead Saturday at the Lake Martin Community Hospital.
The accident happened about 2:20 p.m. when Orell was riding her personal watercraft on the lake.
She apparently was traveling at a high rate of speed and entered too fast into a cove on the lake and tried to turn back into open water, said Alabama Marine Police Officer Mark Fuller. But the woman was not able to complete the turn out of the narrow cove and struck a wooden walkway on the lake shoreline, Fuller said, adding that Orell was in the area to visit relatives who lived on Lake Martin.
The accident marked the second death on the lake this year. On Memorial Day, a teenager from Talladega accidentally drowned, authorities previously said.

Likewise..thoughts and prayers to this family. How sad and right at Father's Day too. One thing I try so hard to remember (and I'm not saying this was an inexperienced driver etc...) but us regular "lake people" have got to be responsible to remind our guests about safety etc.... Sadly so often they just don't know the limits and dangers and how quickly a bad outcome can happen. I know I know I know this happens with "regulars" too...but as a homeowner, boat owner etc.. I really do try to make sure my guests "stay in the limits and follow rules" So often times they just don't know or realize the dangers. Too many times I sit on my dock and watch "visitors" going crazy on Sea Doos etc.... breaking all kinds of safety rules.... to me this is when the owner of that watercraft, house etc... gently (or firmly if need be) sets some ground rules. Nonetheless, this is a most tragic situation and my heart goes out to her family. Please be careful guys! Life is a precious gift!

My deepest sympathy to the family. What a tragedy.
Please...everyone be careful and aware. I've been wanting to but a PWC for a long time and still plan to nuy one soon...but they are like a bullet from a loaded gun if not operated with caution and respect.
