I hope it is true, If everyone will release the big fish they catch when the water temp will allow them to survive they have a good chance to get to 50 plus. I don't know how fast the fish grow in martin but in some lakes they are near the end of there life cycle when they are in the 40 pound range. Since there are so many over 40 caught out of martin each year I would guess that the fish over there don't lose weight through the summer and have a pretty good growth rate. And get to a heavy weight while they are still relatively young.

Call the fisheries department at Auburn and ask them if they shocked up a big hawg striper. Check with the State Fisheries biologists too, since they do electroshocking too.

I haven't heard anything like that. They have stopped the shocking as far as I know and the biggest were in the low 40's. There have been some fish around the state shocked up over 60 but most of them were below Smith lake dam.

Please release fish over 20 lbs and don't mount under 30lbs. the growth of stripers over 30lbs is so much greater, kill your schoolies. Mount one trophy a year. Protect Lake Martin striper fisheries.

It doesn't surprise me that monster stripes are below Smith Dam. They can get huge feeding on those trout stocked down there. Slow, dumb, high fat content hatchery fish, AKA "Popsicles" make for huge fish. Just ask the big bass chasers out in San Diego.
