Read the attached and ask yourself if the reason they will not halt people coming from West Africa is because it will harm Obola's coming executive order on amnesty. He is lawless and is willing to risk the lives of millions of Americans for his distorted ideology. Judge for yourself whether the government is doing the right things.

And a former aide to a certified idiot Joe Biteme. Gee, I feel better already don't you? I guarantee you that this guy's number one charge is to prevent this issue from damaging Obola and if a few thousand Americans have to die so be it. This is why you cannot trust nor rely on government. You do so at your own peril. Even I am astonished at the breathtaking incompetence of this decision. Just when you thought dear leader couldn't make things worse.......

The article is scary, but it contains a lot of "maybes". I think the scariest thing is possible mutations of the virus that might not present in the same way every time. So far, with the exception of Duncan, they have been successful in treating it with experimental drugs, but if it mutates, it could become impossible to treat successfully. And other mutations could possibly be spread differently than the current mutation, i.e. airborne.
I am in favor of closing our borders and certainly not issuing visas to West Africans. I heard a Senator make a cogent argument for doing this, this morning. It's a good idea, common sense really, and I have no idea why the adminstration is refusing to consider it.
But, I do not consider Ebola a crisis, at least not yet. A handful of cases in a population of millions is hardly a crisis. But, there is no reason not to take precautions to prevent it from becoming a crisis. And I agree, to some extent that it could become a crisis if a few jhadists decided to bring it to our public transporation system. Borrowing from another thread, they could also decide to bring chemical weapons and do the same thing.
As far as Obama's Czar for Ebola - well, it just more or less amounts to someone whose full time attention is dedicated to a particular issue. It's not like the Czar is going to come up with the cure. I think it is possible to understand the problem without being a Dr., just as we all go to Drs and get diagnosed - we're not Drs. ourselves but we are capapble of understanding the problem. I'm not sure exactly why we need a Czar, since we have (don't we?) a Surgeon General and a Director of the CDC. One thing though to think about, everyone is in favor of cutting the funding to govenrment agencies until there is a crisis and we expect them to solve it. I'm sure the CDC has been cut and they are probably understaffed. So the next time, someone says that it's a "great idea" to cut funding to government agencies, think about this. And honestly, with the way the FDA has been cut, it's only a miracle that we haven't had a severe outbreak of some sort of foodborne illness, because they are critically understaffed to keep our food supply safe.
One final thought regarding the 2nd nurse that got sick. If you were involved in the treatment of an Ebola patient, and you developed even a low-grade fever, would you think you should get on a plane? Even if you were told by someone that it was okay? Common sense would tell a reasonable adult that, no, you should stay home and not expose a lot of other people - even if you didn't think you had it, but some sort of flu..... This woman is a NURSE too - a health care professional. That ought to make you think twice about who is treating you. This is how people in the hospital for one thing end up dying becasue they get MRSA or some other superbug. Because people responsible for your healthcare and safety, don't have common sense to take precautions.

The CDC was a awarded a larger budget than Obala asked for in recent budgets. There isn't a single agency that shouldn't be able to do al that needs to be done with the exorbidant funding they recieve. The problem is allocation. Only 6% of the CDC budget actually goes to infectuos disease control/study. The rest is squandered on such public health dangers as safer sidewalks and bike paths and other useless programs. Not to mention tens of millions in bonuses.
I don't know where you get your limited amount of news but you should really diversify and find some new sources.

Well, since you know so much about it, perhaps you should let them know how they are screwing up. I'm sure they'd appreciate your advice.

I know at least as much, and probably much more about it than you do, guarenteed. You sure do get defensive real quick. I simply pointed out the innacuracy in one of your statements with facts obtained through reading multiple sources. I didn't claim to have all the answers as you do with about every post.

Worse than jsut a lawyer. He is pure political hack with a long resume as democratic operative including heading up the recount in FL in 2000. Nice short essay on his resume at this link.

I'm not defensive in the least. I'm sure they would appreciate your insights on how they should allocate their budget. As far as you knowing more than me - that is entirely possible, and I hope for your sake that it's true. I'm always happy to see other's make a success of themselves.

I think they should consult you instead at this juncture. After all, the end of the fiscal year is fast approaching and you have 30 years experience in wasting all the leftover money from the current budget they have to spend in order to maintain their funding levels. It only makes sense since you claimed that as one of your strengths in knowing how to run an agency.

Actually, the end of the FY was September 30th. But then, you knew that, didn't you?
And while I do have extensive experience with government budgets, I'm sure my experience pales in comparison with yours. After all, you are an armchair expert on so many things - running governments, businesses, social security disability...... It must be exhausting to be you and have to witness so much incompetence. I urge you to write a book and share your extensive knowledge. I'm sure it would be enlightening.

It is the 3rd world mindset which promotes the spread of Ebola (or any especially communicable disease). In such a culture… ignorance, superstition, and distrust are the fuel of damnation.
- - - - -
Do ignorance, superstition, and distrust abide in this nation? Ah! They do. (They are abundant… for example, in the low information voters who flock to the Pretender.) If enough effort were made to educate the low information population as has been made to stampede them to the polls, then the importation of this dreaded plague could be blunted.
I do not have confidence that the education of the lower class will happen, and… this time… the low information populace will unwittingly admit upon themselves a condition that will abuse them faster than poverty. Do observe - such dullards wander among the population in public places.
Only a prophylactic… a vaccination… will ward off the disease among the ignorant and indigent (and the general population). Science and social behavior modification cannot be swift enough to prevent the establishment of multiple beachheads as this dreadful virus invades. Political dallying and posturing are standing in the way of good thinking. We are pointing fingers of blame in the very moments we should be intelligently assigning missions and responsibility.
- - - - -
Command and control are on sabbatical. Ah, yes… the playing field will be leveled. And we, the voters, are to blame for that. How’s that “hope and change” working out for us?

As usual, the Maj is on target. I just wonder why you continue to live in Alabama?
The Street compiled a list of the 10 dumbest states in America. The Street’s list was based on the level of education a percentage of each state’s population receives. This is not a comprehensive list, and it does not mean that there are no intelligent people in that states below, but there is a clear political lean to the list. Only one of the states voted for President Obama in 2012 (Nevada).
Here are the top 10 dumbest states in America: 10). Tennessee 9). Oklahoma 8). Indiana 7). Alabama 6). Nevada 5). Louisiana 4). Kentucky 3). Mississippi 2). Arkansas 1). West Virginia Only one of the states voted for President Obama in 2012 (Nevada).
Republicans are governing over a swath of stupid, and the only thing we can do is quarantine the disease to keep it from spreading.

Gone Fishing, your non-sequitur response is confounding. Are you just in a bad mood this morning? Have you nothing meaningful to say?
- - - - -
I like Alabama. I find it peaceful here. Folks are friendly. Personally, I have not observed a preponderance of “stupid” as you seem to have stereotyped the state’s population.
- - - - -
Fishy, the topic is Ebola and the response thereto. Please… if you are capable… weigh in on THAT topic.
- - - - -
Ebola kills more than 70% of its hosts… regardless of political affiliation. That percentage will certainly be mitigated by having more definitive medical care in this country.

Education and intelligence have very little in common. I know some over educated idiots and some uneducated gueniouses. In fact there are examples of both right here on this forum.

Who are these low information voters? Where do they reside? Logically, I assume they reside in the 10 dumbest states. And, 9 of the 10 states supported Romney.

Fishy, are you still on the “dumbest states” rant? This thread is about Ebola.

With respect to low information voters, though it causes me to chuckle, I have to agree with PRAVDA:
“Recently, Obama has been re-elected for a 2nd term by an illiterate society and he is ready to continue his lies of less taxes while he raises them….”
“Well, any normal individual understands that as true but liberalism is a psychosis. O'bomber (sic) even keeps the war going along the Mexican border with projects like "fast and furious" and there is still no sign of ending it. He is a Communist without question promoting the Communist Manifesto without calling it so. How shrewd he is in America. His cult of personality mesmerizes those who cannot go beyond their ignorance. They will continue to follow him like those fools who still praise Lenin and Stalin in Russia. Obama's fools and Stalin's fools share the same drink of illusion.” [PRAVDA, 19NOV12]
