Hopefully coming down for the weekend however, would like to know the power situation. Any parts of the lake still without power and, if so, any estimates on when it will be restored? Thanks in advance for the info.

WELL IN LOOKING ON AL POWER WEB SITE AS OF 3AM FRIDAY MORNING THEY REPORT 737000 WITH OUT POWER, AND IN THE REPORT SHOWS TO SERVICE 1,380.000 STATE WIDE. SO I WOULD SAY NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR LAKE MARTIN AREA. I HAVE TRIED TO CALL DADEVILLE AREA AND ANSWERING MACHINE DONT PICK UP.

I would say from the lack of response, there is very little power, if any, on the Lake. I was a fulltimer when Opal went through, took us 7 days to get power back in Holiday Shores Area. I live in Missouri now, and I know what they are going through. I went out and bought a Generator, and except for air conditioning was fine........Cost alot the day after the storm.

I'm off Youngs Ferry and I don't think I have power (answering machine). I guess I need to come and save the steaks I put up huh? Anyone know any AL Power folks and get a reliable answer as to when?

How long will frozen steaks keep in a freezer with the power off? I may have to go to the lake after all. Would be a sin to let 20 lbs. of filet go bad.

Well, you could have a large BBQ and invite all your neighbors :-)

I just put up some strips too. Now it's important since steak is the same price as gold....

We have a place in the Driftwood area, off Youngs Ferry near Dare Power Park. I just called the house and the answering machine picked up the message so I assume there is power in our area!

What is Dare near? Does anybody know about the S.E. part of the lake, Dadeville area?

Just spoke with someone in the Bay Pine Marina area (Jackson's Gap). Said that power just came back on and that a number of crews were out repairing. Said that a good number of trees were down, but overall, the area seemed to be in decent condition.

Golf Colony Condos and Villas on the Harbor have power in Still Waters, but many (most?) homes do not. Power is on all along Hwy 49 and the crews are out and working into the side roads. Susannah Crossing got power about 7:00 p.m. last evening.

I'll post again when I know more.

I just called (or should I say tried to call) our answering machine in the Quail Hollow area and no answer -- so I assume no power.

Just called my machine Sandy Creek - near Quail - power is back on! Ahhh steaks are safe!

Sure, you bring the steaks :-) Seriously I think your steaks in a freezer might be safe for a couple of days or more depending on how much other stuff you have in there and the density. Pulling from my old physics days - your freezer will lose a fixed amount of heat over time. The more heat capacity you have in the freezer the longer stuff will last. So if your freezer is packed with stuff especially dense stuff you're probably allright for 2-3 days. If your steaks are lonely inside the freezer better leave now and don't forget the charcoal!

If you can find some dry ice that works great-if you can find any that is. used to use that on my old single beach-out days on Lanier... Kept the ladies margaritas nice and cool....

Thanks Roswell. Glad you know something about physics, certainly not one of my specialties. Freezer is stuffed so, they should be alright if I wait til tomorrow to go. Still don't knoe if I have power.

I THINK YOU ARE CORRECT ON THE FREEZER THING. AL POWER CO WEB SITE EVEN TALKS ABOUT IT, AND THEY SAY THE SAME YOU AR SAYING. BY THE WAY ROSWELL SOUNDS LIKE YOU MIGHT BE A OLD HOUSEBOATER TOO.

I had an old Stardust 45' on Lake Lanier for a few years when I was single - even though I lived on the lake. You know, you are real hard to find on a lake with 540 miles of shoreline :-)

Great fun those houseboats. I noticed that there are not many beaches on LM because the water level is so constant plus the property is owned by someone too.

I THOUGHT SO WHEN YOU SAID YOU USE TO BEACH OUT. WE SOLD OUR HOUSEBOAT IN JULY OF 2003 AND BOUGHT PROPERTY ON LAKE MARTIN. WE WAS ON ALLATOONA, AND WAS GLAD TO GET AWAY FROM THE ATLANTA LAKES. I THINK SOME OF LAKE MARTINS FOLKS NEED TO BE ON LANIER AND ALLATOONA ON ANY SUMMER WEEKEND AND I THINK THAT THEY WOULD SEE THAT LAKE MARTIN, DOES NOT HAVE A CROWD PROBLEM AT ALL. MUCH LESS HOW BAD THE ATLANTA LAKES WATER LEVEL IS CONTROLLED, OR THE LACK OF ANY CONTROL. LAKE MARTIN A GREAT LAKE AND MY WIFE AND I LOOK FOWARD TO LIVING AT THE LAKE

I describe LL as a puddle surrounded by 4,000,000 people. Useless as a weekender now. Traffic is so bad in Atl you can't commute either anymore. That's how I picked LM over LL
