I grew up on Lake Martin and live in South Alabama now. Despite having grown up on the coast, my wife has never been around boats and such. I would like to rent a cabin for a few days and perhaps a boat as well. I am looking to do this in the middle of April.

The only catch to it all is that I we have 3 small dogs that we like to bring with us when we travel. The dogs are well-behaved and thoroughly house-trained, but I understand of course that many people do not want pets in their properties.

If anyone has any leads on properties that meet this criteria, please let me know.

I REALLY miss it up there.

Check with lake martin dock company. They have a sign at their office about renting cabins.

Also check with Stillwaters. They (use to) have villa/condo rentals. After the sale, not sure. Convenient part is the marina is right there and they rent-out boats.

Also, check the vacation rentals from individuals on this website. We rented all summer last year through someone that advertised here. We liked it so much we now own a place of our own! Good Luck!

Might consider letting you rent our lake house. It is three levels, with two levels of wrap around porch, absolutely beautiful view, facing west for stunning sunsets, right across from small island (I think it is Snake Island) and just down a little ways from Chimney Rock (we can see the rock from our boat dock). We have a 20 foot Chaparral that is just two years old and jet skis...but due to insurance and liability exposure issues, somewhat hesitate to rent out We have done it before and all was okay. Will talk over with my husband and get back to you...okay? You would love the place, kind of a mix of Sports Afield and Southern Living, looks a bit like a log cabin inside, a hunter's and fisherman's lodge. Would be $150 a night if boat included and would have to receive $200 security/pet deposit in advance. Would return that upon inspection of property.

Let me know if you are interested and we will make a decision.

Sounds like a great place for that price. However, if you can see "The Rock" from your place you are no where near Snake Island. It's just south of the 280 bridge on the upper part of the lake.

ok thanks for the info. Someone from the Marina where we bought our boat told us they thought the island was called Snake island. I don't know if this island has a name but anyway, there is a huge eagle's nest on the island with an eagle and two eaglets. I think I will just call it Eagle Island.
