Just wanted to make everyone aware of this, as I received the below email from Bruce last night and my sincere condolences go out to him and his family.
Jack Murray Pate (1932-2008)
My father passed away Thursday night at 11:45 PM CDT. He fought hard and suffered during the past weeks and now finally has peace. We will be making final arrangements Friday but expect the funeral service will be Sunday afternoon. I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be out of pocket for a few more days.

Our place is next door to The Pates at the lake and we are also from Sylacauga so we have known them forever. I know Jack had been very sick for a long while, he fought hard.
Bruce we are very sorry to hear this news. Our prayers are with you and your mother.

Thank you for the kind comments. Dad really loved going to Lake Martin and I got my love for the lake by going with him all my life. I will always remember the times we spent sitting on the pier doing nothing but talking.
Dad was a pipe fitter/welder and was very good fabricating anything out of metal. One impressive thing he did back in the 70s was construct a stainless steel pier. While most piers are considered to last decades, the pier that he built could last centuries.
