What the he!! is Biden trying to do with this student loan Bravo Sierra?  What is the reasoning other than just trying to buy more votes using someone else's money?

I think you answered your own question......it's a vote buying scheme.  Basically he is asking the plumber to pay off the student loan debt of rich people's student debt.  It is utter madness.  Between $300B and $375B in new debt to eliminate the debt of people that foolishly took out student loans to get a degree in Gender Studies or whatever useless degree they got.  And it screws over responsible people that paid off their student loans or parents like me that saved in order to prevent our children from being saddled with a bunch of debt.

I don't agree with Biden on this one. However, MM has it all wrong. There is a limit on income  of $125,000.  I can't believe there is any plumber making less than $125,000.

I also didn't agree with the Government foregiving loans of $1,000,000 to businesses. However, I am yet to meet a Conservative who had a problem with the program. The same poor will pay back the loans while the rich laugh to the bank.

I have a problem with business loans being forgiven.

you have met at least one.

If you take on debt - without some form of fraud or illegal activity you should be required to pay it back.

If you are good with the search engine you can find in 2008 or so where I was against handouts to the big guys.  I suggested 10,000 to car buyers instead of millions to General Motors.  That way the common folks benefited and the big guys got their money on a purchase.

Now this Debt forgiveness is ridiculous

I just realized the loan foregiveness has an income limit of $125,000 for an individual and $250,000 for a married person. I am against any program like that but the program sure doesn't need an income limit up to $250,000. Anyone with that income can pay $10,000 of their debt.

If you read his remarks (which are being considered racist in some sectors), he is pitching directly to his base - minorities (and he managed to insult them while he was doing it).   I actually wonder how much the forgiven $10K will do.  I heard today that the average undergraduate debt is $36K.  And then Joe kicked the can down the road and extended the moritorium on student loan payments to Dec 31st to appeal to those who aren't covered by todays give away.

I see where he just slid some more military assistance to Ukraine too (bringing the total to $16B), yet they have let the free meals for kids at school to expire.

Just when you think he can't make anymore stupid decisions, he does it again.  At the end of his presidency, we will overwhelmed with national debt and our taxes will be even higher than they are today.

On the former, everyone that pays Federal taxes will be paying for this bovine excrement....including the plumber regardless of what he makes.  The income limit you mention is for those asking for the payola, not who's paying for it.  Put another way, the guy or gal that skipped college and wento work is now being asked to pay the student debt of rich kids......and the $125K limit doesn't apply to their parents.  So some kid takes on $100K debt to get a degree in gender studies isn't going to be making more than $125K per year....those will only be the smart kids that chose a degree program that paid well when they graduated.  How happy are they going to be to paying for the debts of others, not to mention those that were responsible and paid off their student loan debt?  Not very and rightly so.

As for your second point, I assume you are talking about PPP, right?  You do realize that every singly penny of that money was used to pay mostly for salaries of employees that might have otherwise have lost their job because the govt foolishly shut down the economy in response to the plandemic.  Hardly the same situation as someone voluntarily taking on huge amounts of debt to obtain a nearly worthless degree. A non sequitar argument at best which is why Dementia Joe made it and you repeated it like a mindless drone.  And just to remind you, of that million dollars probably at least 40% and as much as 50% goes back to the government in the form of income and payroll taxes.  Like EV car companies hiking the price of their cars by the subsidy, colleges will raise tuition to suck up all that new money.

How about this, Fish.  Go ahead with the Fed Stud Loan Relief plan and at the same time, eliminate my property taxes that go toward local schools districts as I have no children enrolled in them.  And as well, if you chose to send your children to private schools, you pay no property taxes either.  Does this sound racist?

CRD, if you live in Cobb County and are 62 or older you pay no school property taxes.  While I never used Cobb schools I was more than OK with supporting them with my taxes.  Good schools.  But it is very nice to not have to pay them anymore after 30 plus years.

The reality is the Feds want to control all aspects of our lives, including our debt.  That way 100% of Americans are on the dole in one form or fashion.  This is a clear cut case of being anti-Robinhood.  Take from the poor and give to the rich.  But here's another reality, it will never happen.  It will only be on the table until after mid-terms as the courts will rule that he does not have the authroity to do this.  But that will be long after the votes are cast.  The other reality is this is proof positive that the Democrats are the party of the rich and the GOP is the party of the working class.  This is not going to sit well with working class blacks and Hispanics whose children went to work and not to college and will further push them to the GOP.  The sad truth is the Democrats likely already had the votes they are buying, upper middle class and wealther college educated voters are already in the bag.  But at the end of the day this will not happen.  He cannot uses the CARES act to do this and the courts, likely SCOTUS, will slap them down......but long after the votes are cast.

Read the first sentence of my original post............" I don't agree with Biden on this one." To be clear...I don't support the program and I did not support the PPP program.

The PPP program started as a loan program then it became up to a $1,000,000 foregiveness. As a retiree, I am paying for it and it sucks. I have yet to find a conservtive who turned it down. But, they all have "justification" why they accepted it. It was Government Welfare that the taxpayers have to pay for. No different than welfare for the poor...just more zeroes.

Yes, I voted for Biden but I don't support him on this. Kinda like you...you voted for Trump but did not support him encouraging the insurrection on January 6th.

Not so in my county.  A homestead exemption based on age 65 or older as of Jan 1 in the year your taxes are due is based on AGI.  No carte blanche age exemption.

Did I miss an insurrection?  You must be speaking about the people who attempted a coup against a sitting POTUS for 3 years by using a hoax, right?

Biggest mistake Trump made during the time period you mention is his thinking that the individuals in government positions that ultimately betrayed him were professionals.

The tentacles of the Deep State can influence even the most trusted, Fish.  Moving the majority of government out of DC would be a good start.

I  am surprised  that  Trump's attorneys  haven't argued that he was merely moving  the  Deep State from DC to FL when he moved boxes and boxes of highly secret documents to his bedroom in Florida, Doc.

Goofy, the PPP forgiveness aspect was part of the law before any loans were made.  Without that aspect it would not have been effective at all.  What business owner in their right mind would borrow money from a bank when their business has been shut down to keep employees paid that are not generating any revenue?!?!?!?  Simple answer is none....no one is that stupid.  So you are wrong, the forgiveness aspect was always a part of that program and it is not even remotely the same as student loan forgiveness.

The only way PPP could even be part of the conversation is if the Federal, state and local government, at the point of a gun forced students to take out tens of thousands of dollars of student loans to get a degree in Gender Studies or Art History or some other woke crap degree.  But they didn't....these are debts taken on voluntarily and it is sick that tax dollars from people who didn't go to college or did and paid their own debts have to even think about this nonsense.  Biden was a senile old fool and an idiot for bringing PPP up and you are equally foolish for complaining about it in light of the latest vote buying scheme.
