Uh, oh.....breakthrough case study

See the paper below from a study of virus infections in a county in MA. Of the 496 new cases, breathroughs of fully vaccinated people accounted for 74% of the total with MA having around 69% vaccinated, a little h. Even worse, of the five people that had to be hospitalized, four were fully vaccinated and none died. 89% of the new cases involved the Delta variant. Did not read the details of the 5 that required hospitalization so don't know their age or the presence of co-morbidities. 79% of the breakthrough cases had symptoms. Note that this is a small sample size study so it could be contradicted by meta data that won't be available for a while but it does comport with studies done in Israel with much larger sample sizes.
So what this tells us is several things. One, the experimental gene therapy either isn't very effective with the Delta variant or the protection wanes over time. I saw a video of a UK doctor comparing breathrough cases in the UK versus Israel and it seemed to indicate that waiting 10 weeks or so after the first shot provides better long-term protection than getting the second shot in 3 weeks or so. Two, there doesn't seem to be any special protection against serious symptoms whether you have been vaccinated or not. Again, not knowing the demographics of those that required hospitalization it is hard to say whether there is a correlation or whether it could be a function of the circumstances of those individuals. Third, I can assure you that if this study is confirmed with meta data that booster shots are on the way for the fully vaccinated, as are masking restrictions, etc. Essentially the vaccinated and unvaccinated may be be at similar risk to the Delta variant, either due to being ineffective or wearing off.

The data we may never get is how long ago was their most recent shot for these breakthrough cases. We have already heard of cases inside of a few weeks of the 1st or 2nd shot that indicated it was not enough time for the shot to be really effective. What I would like to know was it weeks, a few months, 6+ months etc.
If you have to have a "booster" every day/week/month or so then that shot is worthless as water. 97% effective, but only during a full moon only if it occurs between the 10th and 12th day after your 2nd shot, not during daylight hours, indoors, outdoors, crowds or while alone, or at night.

You forgot that it is 100% effective if you are participating in a mostly peaceful BLM march where buildings are burned down, want to officiate a wedding in DC maskless or are planning to have 500 left wing nuts come to your birthday party at the $11M mansion on Martha's Vineyard.
But not at all effective if you want to attend the funeral of your grandmother, have a few friends over to your house for a BBQ or go to work.

It's the leaky face diaper version......basically pretty much like 99% of them being used these days. BTW, did you see the drunk Aussie ladies wearing thongs as their face coverings? Pretty dang funny video.

Yeah, reminds me of the TSA video early own when they were blocking some lady from getting on a plane and she yanked hers down on the spot, and strapped in over her head - as I recall at best it was mesh, but they let her board.

I guess your point is that the vaccine that Trump took credit for is no different from everything else he took credit for......a failure. That is a very perceptive observation.

Now where did I ever say that? Another hint....I never did. In fact, I stated unequivally that it was a miracle that saved countless lives of the elderly and those with co-morbidities.
Honestly Goofy, I can't decide whether you just enjoy looking dumb with your inability to understand simple English or whether you are just dumb. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you were cheated by whatever govt school educated you.....ask for a refund. Show them this thread and what you apparently got out of it and they will gladly pay you back as they will realize that they failed you in reading comprehension and critical thinking.

I have thought for some time that Goofy doesn't really believe what he posts, but he does so anyway just to get a rise out of the conservatives on the forum. He must have married an exceptionally intelligent woman who is the mother of their doctor son, and I am told he actually did pretty well in the insurance industry so he isn't as dumb as he comes across here. He is probably pushing or is over 80 by now and enjoys posting ridiculous stuff and sitting back and watching the rest of us (except maybe Archie, Smitty, Mountain Man, etc) react to his obvious bovine shinola.
Of course my suspicions about wix have proven groundless so I could be way off with Goofy as well.

I sometimes wonder myself and I know for sure Goofy isn't dumb.....but he does post some really dumb stuff. Yes, his goal is to troll around to get responses but at least he is mildly amusing at times and cogent on very rare occasions. His most positive attribute is he is not mean spirited and nasty like some of the other left wing nut trolls that frequent here. He doesn't immediately assume someone is evil simply because they disagree on politics. Not something we can say about the others. I don't think all liberals are evil, but I do think they are just wrong in their ideological beliefs because they have never worked and will never work. As Reagan said, they just believe so much that isn't true. And they really believe it......Goofy, I'm not so sure.
