Coronavirus is not the kiss of death

Yes, those of you with long memories will remember I entered a post a while back with the same subject. Well, as an update when I visited my family physician for another reason I mentioned that the loss of sense of smell and my granddaughter's positive test made me believe I indeed had contracted the Virus. He had my blood tested and indeed I have the Coronavirus antibodies, meaning I had at one time been actively infected.
Here is the point of this post. While I am 75, have high blood pressure and mild heart disease, Coronavirus was nothing but a slight inconvenience. My wife, with whom I have daily contact well in violation of social distancing norms, tested totally negative yesterday. It does not control my life, nor does it send me coffin-shopping.
if one looks at the Coronavirus statistics logically and unemotionally the result is clear: while some with other conditions may succumb to the virus, they most likely would succumb to any other malady that comes along as well.
it disappoints and disgusts me that those on the left side of the aisle see this as an opportunity to regain power, in some cases at the expense of the people they swore to represent. Despicable is too kind a word to describe them.

You are right that for most it is not ''the kiss of death'', but the bottom line is that 3% of the people who get it that is exactly what it is. To be sure the death and infection rate is less in most countries with real leaders who trust medical scientist instead of right wing politicians. Regardless of what ''DR TRUMP'' say this is much worse than the flu. With the annual flu the death rate is typically in the range of 0.15%. Thankfully due to the precautions taken by thinking people who trust science more than politics, this disease is not nearly as wide spread (so far) as the annual flu. If COVID effected as many as the flu typically does but with a 3% fatality rate we would be talking about at least 2+ million dead and counting. Thankfully you were fortunate but many are not and you also know this is for real and a lot more serious than Trump, MM, Carlson, CRD and many others on this forum say it is.

So what does Herman Cain have to do with it? Your attempts to turn everything into "Orange Man Bad" is laughable. Admit it. Donald J Trump owns you and no matter how hard you try you will never get that monkey off your back. It must be tough to have so much hate in your heart. Life is short. Don't let it consume you.
Sweet dreams Archie.

Your initial post was about COVID. It is you that is now changing the subject. I pointe out that Herman Cain died of COVID while you were more fortunate, as are most, and did not die from COVID! Why shoot the messanger who points out truth and facts about this scourge? Most people who get it will ''survive'' even if with troubling after-effects with many, but a frighteneing percentage will die from it. For 3% it is the ''kiss of death''! If you and many others do not accept that "fact'' then you are not only endangering yourselves but also those you love! That is the bottom line! COVID doesn't give a rat's azz who you are going to vote for!
I am confident Donald Trump will soo be off of Americas's back!
PS: Yesterday in America over 59,000 tested positive and over 1000 died. Thats three times more American deaths per day than died in WW ll!

Read the Great Barrington Declaration. This is very much to their point. And as I stated in another post, the WHO has let the cat out of the bag that the Wuhan virus is no more deadly than the ordinary flu....you know the one we don't shut down the country for nor do we breathlessly report the number of cases and deaths by city, county, state or country. Nor do politicians try to blame the flu on the President.
Indeed the elderly and those with co-morbidities should be particularly careful. But the rest of us should go about our lives and get us to her immunity because while I am hopeful there will be a safe and effective vaccine we still don't have one for the common coronavirus better known as the common cold. Average age of those that died - 78. Average co-morbidities of those that died - 2.6. For the vast, vast majority of people this is a non event.

I'm really glad that you had a mild case. I still think it is more serious than the flu, but I don't think it is a death sentence. You figure the media took the worst possible cases and spun them into the norm. But then, in NYC, where people live packed like sardines, it's no wonder that so many of the elderly and those basically unhealthy died.
Yesterday I went to a meeting of about a dozen or so people. A lot of us had masks, but some didn't. No one confronted each other. The room wasn't big enough to have chairs 6 feet apart, but they were staggered so no one was in each others face. I didn't feel uncomfortable. I think the media and the Democrats feel it is to their advantage to keep the COVID front and center and play on people's fears. In the last month I have ventured out more than I did in the previous months - I went to get my hair cut and I've gone into stores, other than grocery and Costco and I didn't feel uncomfortable. You may think that I was crazy not to go out that much before this past month, but it a way it has been a blesssing for me personally.
