Troy Cable purchased Comlink-inc. Hoping internet bandwidth and speed will be more reliable with weekenders online.

I think you'll be happy with the speed...Troy Cable just upgraded their internal connections to 100gig----no other service provider has done this in the state of Alabama.

But have you noticed improvement at the lake? It's been poor in the past.

During the last week I have noticed some internet dropouts which plays havoc on streaming.

My family has a lake house in Parker Creek and we subscribe to Com-Link / Troy Cable... I decided to call and ask some questions about the new company and their plans, changes, etc. for the acquired CL customers on the lake.  The lady I spoke with said the switchover was completed on April 30th.  I explained to her that the internet provided by Com-Link was comparable to dial-up, especially during summer weekends and holidays.  She responded saying that shouldn't be the case anymore and that the minimum speeds you should see are 15mb down and 5mb up.  They only offer one additional internet package and it's only 5mb faster on the download speed.

The cable line up is available on their website (linked below) - use the Ozark or Daleville lineup.

I'd be curious to see if the service lives up to the levels she claims.  That would be 5x faster than Com-Link.  Keep this thread going with what your experience is with their cable service, internet service, and customer service/support.

I called the Troy Office and they told me to continue using the old Com Link channel lineups.  Not at the lake now so maybe somebody there can comment on any channel changes, if any.

Channels seem to be the same, EXCEPT, as mentioned above, the HD channels are gone.  I rescanned one TV to see if there would be different channels.  Took forever and channels are the same.   Internet seems ok, but we did have a few drops and slow downs.  Internet totally out on Sunday May 1.  I called to leave a message, got a real person, said they would report outage, took my phone number, AND called near end of day to be sure we were back up.

But how do we get those HD channels back?

Is your internet cable-based?  If so the company may have too many customers on a single feed.  Cable-based Internet is very much usage dependent.  More customers sharing the bandwidth, slower speed per customer.  But you probably already know that.

when I had Charter in Montgomery I complained and they came out and tweaked levels at the pole, the house, and the modem and speed and reliability got better.  Not good enuf to keep me from switching to UVERSE but better.

RON Spartanburg tonight, ETA Montgomery tomorrow about five hours after launch in the AM.  I am READY for some non-DC time.

I emailed them through their website on Wednesday asking for rates and I've not received a response. We are wanting to get internet but not sure of the rates.

Thanks!

Just a quick update -- turns out that Troy Cable didn't have our account provisioned correctly on the back end... we're now seeing 14-15mb down and around 2mb up.  The lady I spoke with said that the 15/5 speeds previously quoted to me were for the fiber network and not the coax.  The speeds we should expect to see at the lake are up to 15mb down and up to 2mb up.  Let's hope the speed stays consistent as more people get up to the lake for the summer!  I will say overall I'm pleased with the support that I've received each time I call Troy Cable.
