Democrats swept all five statewide offices in Virginia.... both Senate seats,  governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general wth todays announcement that the Democrat won the attorney general office by 164 votes. A recount could change that but happy days are here again.

First time in 40 years that all 5 seats are held by Democrats. Happy Times Are Here Again!!!!!

Do you live in Virginia or is it one of the other 56 states?

Yes, Virginia… it surely is Happy Time for the grasshoppers.  But, winter will absolutely come… and the ever increasing mass of grasshoppers will be unsupportable by the ants. As the proportion of ants to grasshoppers gets smaller, there comes a point where there is no time… no energy… for happiness.  Throughout the history of civilizations, we have read this story.  That is, of course, if one is the least bit interested in history.

Our forefathers, seeing the propensity of the masses for declaring dominance over the minority, designed a constitutional republic with three branches – Legislative, Executive, and Judicial… these to check and balance each other. The Legislative branch had two houses – one to represent the people (and their taxes) and one to represent the governments of the several states.

So we find that the dynamics of politics and greed have corrupted The Constitution such that it is

a) indecipherable to the citizens… and legislators… and the administrators…and the judges.
b) The legislators speedily pass politically expedient laws that they have neither read nor understand.
c) The president and his administration, co-opting authority, dice and slice laws to suit political agendas to the immediate detriment of the minority politic… and eventually to the demise of all citizens regardless of political affiliation, and
d) Judges become political mouthpieces of the party in power and bend the founding document to support the politics in vogue.

If reason does not soon take hold… if honorable men do nothing… if the founding document is not revisited… then “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will be another meaningless phrase.  The success of the “Grand Experiment” will be squandered and broken in the cheatin’ arms of greed and apathy... and indolent ignorance.

The voters also returned 67 Repubs to the 100 member house of Delegates.

Most of my growing days were spent in Virginia… I love the Commonwealth.  Its demographics have changed with the swelling of the government and entitlement class.

Let us hope that the 67 have courage and allegiance.

It is sad that so many are ignorant of history and philosophy and literature… for the anguish will come… as surely as it has to
Detroit, MI and Stockton, CA and six others. Calls will ring out for “too big to fail” government bail-out.  It won’t resolve. Eventually the productive cannot support the indolent class.

Maj,

Other than 5 or less lost souls on here, you're preaching to the choir and we're singing the song to match your sermon.

Add at least one more to the list that agrees with the sermon (if that's what you want to call it) that the Major was reflecting on. I agree with I'm sure many more do also. I like what many have to say and agree with some (conservatives) and don't with some (left wing nuts). Just because there is not comments to a comment from anyone on any particular topic does not mean there is not agreements or disagreements. Depending on what is happening at the time some will jump with joy until it blows up in their face then nothing. I don't think names need to be said for everyone that reads the forum knows who they are. While some comment regardless how the ball falls by sticking to their beliefs with facts. Some just want more hand outs instead of what is good for the Country. Just give me all I can get and to heck with who and how it is going to be paid for. More Government is not the answer but less is best. Come on 2014! Maybe we can take this Country back.

I would venture to say that none on this forum are really the "takers". Don't be misled by the tongue-in-cheek posts of some...uh, one. However, that they continue to spout the socialist rhetoric in the face of overwhelming evidence that socialism is doomed to fail is troubling. Hopefully they are doing it for effect...just to raise the ire of those who have it "right".

You are correct. This will continue in the future as Virginia is split with Dems in the North and GOP controling the rural counties. The large population in the large Northern counties will keep VA as a Dem state for President, US Senate, and Gov. The majority of the US House will be GOP as will the State legislature.

Just sayin..........
