Are you a fulltimer or a part timer? Reason I ask... have you thought about a tankless water heater? I don't personally have one, but should have investigated more when I purchased my last one. Just a thought....

Give Rodney Pless a call at 256-307-5289. He lives in Dadeville and he put in one of those new GE water heaters with a computer on it that pays for itself in 3 years. Rodney did a great job as always.

I also highly recommend tankless. I have it in GA and will install in the house here when this heater wears out. My dad had his propane supplier install his here at the lake... their price was more competitive than the plumbers he contacted. You may even be eligible for an energy savings tax credit.

I have been burned so many times by "handymen" I use A & M out of Alex City. You know the price before they start, they lay tarps down coming in to the house and clean up everything when they leave. No surprises, licensed and insured, not the cheapest but no callbacks.

I second the A&E recommendation. I live 3.5 hrs from Lake Martin.  After my guests reported a septic problem I called A&E.  Dealing long distance I found their ad in LAKE Magazine. They called back promptly, had a rep visit the house, gave me a firm price and after the O.K. the problem was repaired less than 24 hrs. later.  I don't know if it could have been done cheaper, but I thought it was reasonable.  They were very professional.

We decided to go with A & M Plumbing.  I'm always nervous when people are working in or around the house.  Probably a lot of you are, but I am pretty anal ... some would say I'm OCD. I wouldn't disagree!

We were not at home while any of the work was done, never met anyone.  Got home yesterday afternoon to a new water heater, and I could barely tell they had been there at all.

I'm happy it's over, and I'm happy with their work, and I'm happy they took care of my home.

Thanks for all of the feedback.
Thank you Bruce for this little community!

I knew Mark "Biscuit" Ray when he was learning the plumbing trade with Newman Plumbing and Heating many years ago.  (He's the "M" in "A & M".)  He was a fine young man at that time and has built a very well respected business of his own since then.  I'm glad to hear that you were pleased with his company's work.
