I am still here!!!!!!!!!!!
Those of us with a brain have spent the last several weeks bashing the pollution of Lake Martin caused by inadequate septic systems at PP.
There are others that selfishly pollute the lake and cheat the lake out of tax money, in an effort to save a few bucks.
THE GAS TOTERS.
These people go through a significant amount of effort to "save" fifty cents a gallon on gas that they burn in their boats. The Toters are much more likely to spill gas into the lake or the bilge with the gas ultimately landing in the lake. They also have the opportunity to spill gas or blow themselves up while filling their containers but that is beyond the scope of this post. Just like the PP Pooppers these Toters say, "Its just a little bit of gas that I spill" or they lie and say they spill none. If every body did this think about how much it would be.
The next problem with the Toters, is they are cheating DCNR out of the tax money that that they would have received had the gasoline been purchased from a lake side marina.
The third and final problem is that the Toters are making it difficult for the marinas to stay in business. The people who provide gas for the majority of us that buy it at the lake could use the extra business. Some of the smaller marinas are having a hard time and people who won't frequent them to save a half a buck are doing harm to the lake and all of those who are doing the right thing.
HOW CAN YOU STOP THE TOTERS?
DYE MARINE GAS just like they do off road gas. Let the game wardens and marine police check the color of the gas and fine violators $5 per gallon of capacity of the boat and $500 with the fines increasing geometrically for repeat offenders.

Not really. Those of us with connected brain cells have spent the last few week bashing you, not PP residents. By your logic we should all have to take our lawn mowers to small engine repair shops to fill them up also. So why don't you get a life and start trying to make all small engine repair shops install tanks and pumps with dyed gas. Then the Forrest Service officers or maybe county extension agent go door to door checking lawn mowers. Why not include ATV's? The Game Wardens could come and check those.
Those same folks with connected brain cells know how to pour or siphon gas without spilling it everywhere. We also see overflows at the marinas on a regular basis where they spill more than I ever have with a can.

I know I am going to regret this but here goes:
Hunt, you are doing more to pollute Lake Martin than all of PP and the gas toters will ever do. Having been on Lake Martin for 50 years I know and have known several "Rednecks" that have places at PP and love PP. By the way, there are a lot of these "Rednecks" that can buy your 5,000 sf house with the change in their pockets. I am not using "Rednecks" disrespectfully because they are normal lake loving individuals like the rest of us. Let's try to help them. Get a life and get POSITIVE!

This post was not about PP. it is about gas toters. And revenue for DCNR.
I do not live in a 5000 sqft house.
If those people have that kind of cash, why don't they buy proper septic systems.
You tell me to help them. Help them what?
What are you doing that is in fact helping PP people keep their lake places?

I will my small brain against yours anytime. You need some remedial education on reading comprehension. Read the thread again. The "Mexican" got what he deserved. You and him have essentially called them all criminals. He went away quietly. Too bad you don't have that much class. You can hang out in your fish camp kingdom where you can pretend you are important.

Some like the convenience of using the marinas for their gas, others prefer to save the buck a gallon plus by using portable containers. If the lake is being so terribly polluted why is it still one of the most pristine in the southeast?
Mandating the use of marinas would just be another freedom taken away. Even if I did agree with your proposed ban on portable containers, your proposed method of enforcement is stupid. The enterprising offenders would just get some food coloring or other appropriate dye to add to their contraband gas.

I don't suck pipes like I am sure you do around the fish camp. I spent the few dollars and got siphon hoses that just have to be jiggled. That little ball twirling around in the check valve probably sounds a lot like you pea size brain rattling around in your big head.

"So you think breaking a law is "enterprising""... So what is Mr. Hodja doing that is illegal? Filling up his boat with gas cans? I spill far less gas when using a can than I do when using a gas pump... something to do with the vent I'm sure.
With your proposed gas dye law, you wouldn't be allowed to buy gas on your way to the lake? Or a day tripper/ lake visitor?
Also, as far as the dye in the gas.. you might piss off all those AU fans if you put Pat Dye in gas.
Crappy : )

Hodja said some "some enterprising" person would just dye their own gas.
Well by that account it might be "enterprising" to shoplift or get a gun and hold up a gas station where you are dying your own.
Just don't see how breaking the law would be considered "enterprising"

Hmmm, I wonder if the folks who design and build radar and laser detectors would be considered "enterprising". They surely have made tons of money helping people break the law. Hey MH have you ever used one? We can't just go around picking and choosing the laws we will obey. If we did we would be hypocritical, now wouldn't we?
Doesn't matter. Whether a person is being enterprising is his or her judgment to make, not someone else's. And in any case you got it all bass ackwards with the dye thing you would want the non-marina gas to be dyed. The way you proposed it anyone could add dye to cheaper gas to simulate more expensive. I guess you must have been confused by the fact that untaxed agricultural fuel is dyed so it can't be used for non-farm purposes. See how far you get passing a law that requires dye in the 99 44/100% of gas that is used for non-marine purposes.
Of course your original premise is invalid so it is a moot point. Enjoy your majority of one.

I new it would be too much trouble to dye all gas that is why I suggested that only the marine gas be so.
I know which gas they dye now.
In don't use a radar detecter.
Why don't you want to support the marina's and the DCNR. Do you have issues with them. Don't want more marine police because they might catch you being "enterprising" like making a wake in a no wake zone or making large wakes so as to harm others property?

Marinas are a commercial enterprise that should exist or not based on supply and demand, not some law.
And insinuating that I don't support DCNR because I think your idea is completely hosed is a non sequitur.
Can't you do any better than that?

I have no idea where this hunt dude came from but wow......just wow. U need to seriously get laid. Follow that up with some cold ones. Have u put any posts on here that are not bitchin or callin someone names? How angry do u stay?
Try this on for size. Yea I'm a gas totter if I can. I use anywhere from 40 to 100 gallons a weekend. An extra $1 could cost me $100 extra. I have a station less than a mile from my cabin (red hill). I have a awesome "jack off" hose that sucks every drop out of the can and not a single drop ever spilled. Marinas want business....then sell gas a normal price instead of gouging the very people who can keep u in business. Simple concept. Yea yea convenience....whatever....we call it rippin u off because they can. Of all the crap going on to complain about u choose buying gas on the lake instead of a station?
Anchor bay this past weekend as I was getting ice and beer...yes supporting them....teenager girls working the pumps were spilling gas everywhere in the lake. Get on ur horse about that.
