Gee, they actually admitted that was an opinion in the editorial section. That exact article would usually appear as an unbiased, front page story. Republicans stole the election--seems I've heard that story before.
Siegelman's sole platform, when he won, was his push to pass the lottery bill. This was a blatant, and successful, effort to woo the black vote.

To Siegleman, the Governor's Mansion is his birthright. To him, this whole business has been about keeping him from fulfilling his destiny. His whole career has been aimed at becoming Governor of the State of Alabama. He has been elected to almost every statewide office in the state in pursuit of this goal. The complete list is on the historic marker he had placed in front of the house where he lived in Montgomery before becoming governor. Ride down Norman Bridge Road just north of Fairview, and you will see it in front of the dump that he sold to a donor under suspicious circumstances.

Gee, I hope we do not have too many more "Republican operatives" like Ms. Simpson. And could James Gundlach possibly be a "Democrat operative"? For some reason, his possible motivations were not questioned. Look all the way back on Seigleman's career and you will see questionable financial dealings and charges that he misused state funds, such as the time he billed the state for his private pilot training.

He has been feeding at the public trough all his adult life. At least now it is the proper trough. And it is so apropos that Scrushy went down with him. I bet both their trophy wives are having a blast without them.

Go here to see a photo of Professor Gundlach. Let me know what you think his political leanings are.
