A landscaper told me today that "unless the rains come" current plans were to lower the lake another 4 feet. Anyone else heard this?

If it never rains again, it will go lower than that.....the only "plan" is to deal with the drought in the best way possible, although the "best way" is up for some debate.

I am surprised that the lake level has stayed above 480 with the conditions we have had recently. I would think that the level would be a lot closer to 476 right now, even with the reduced discharges from the dam. I am not complaining, however, since the kid's new swimming hole would dry up at 476.

It does not matter at this point ; the lake is too far to do anything anyway drop it a few more feet what the heck.

Its going to take plenty of rain to fill up anyway in the spring.

I have been up on the lake since 1964 plenty of ups and downs
but since old enough to do remember this unreal.

I still can't get over the 29 foot searay hitting the island.

I really don't think there's any plan to lower the Lake. It's just going down due to water requirements and lack of rain. The approval Gov. Riley obtained to lessen water release from Martin with more coming from Alatoona has helped a lot, but that can only go so far when you get no rain.

They will have to do something. They havent been running near the amount of water that they were a month and a half ago. If we dont get a SIGNIFICANT amount of rain the lake will continue to fall. Have you seen all the Hardwoods that are turning brown. That is a sign that most all of the ground water is gone too. So it would have to be a very significant amount of rain to make a difference. The ground will soak up a lot of it.

Most dogwoods(even in low areas) are giving it up!

It is starting to look like late October with the leaves changing, except for the haze.
