First of all, let me say that my prayers go out to all that went through the tornado. I can relate. I live in Bay Saint Louis, Ms. and went through Hurricane Katrina and lost everything.
My family and I have been visiting Lake Martin for many years now and plan to relocate there sometime soon.
I have plans to go camping for the week at WindCreek State Park and do some watersports on the lake.
How is the lake? Can some watersports still be done on the lake?
Thanks for all the info.

Wind Creek is a good distance upstream of the storm track, so I would say the risk of debris is relatively small. Play away up there!

I was around Bay Pines south of Wind Creek this weekend and all was great until you get well down past Pleasure Point.

My place is approx one mile north of Wind Creek. Was out on the water last weekend and all was fine. The debris I saw was typical limbs and tree parts from the down stream flow - no construciton materials.
Come on down and welcome! Do bring sun screen as the forecast is for 100 through the weekend.

Thanks everybody for your information. I plan on packing up and heading that way next week.
I will do my watersports north of Pleasure Point and be more careful south of Pleasure Point and if i see trash in the water that i can pick up, well than i will do my part to better Lake Martin.

Ever shop at Breath's Boats there in BSL? I have a good friend who ran their parts dept for years then moved over to sales. He may be retired by now.

Just because you do not SEE debris does not mean that it is not there. This was an EF-4 tornado that threw debris in all directions for miles, some forward and some backward. Some of that debris is SUSPENDED!!!, just under the water line, which you CANNOT SEE!! from your boat,,,,,,, until you hit it. Just think about it as you enjoy your vacation and do as you please. Your risk. The cleanup of the lake itself has got to be expensive, first finding it, and then removing it. That's why all the push and shove on who pays for it. Whatever, it has not started, and will not be finished for some time. Just know that it is there, somewhere, and be very careful on the water.
