and his fears Joe Biden is bound and determined to take his guns.  Most responses were under the subject title ''shall not be infringed''. Have any of you ''I'm gona own every gun I want whether l need it or not" every given serious thought to the words that precede ''shall not be infringed''?

''A WELL REGULATED MILITIA, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.''

Do you think the founders actually thought what the were sayin would come to be interpreted as it is today?  Do you think if they had even imagined the evolution from the straight bore musket to the assault weapons today they might have changed the wording of the amendment?  What do you think they had in mind by the words ''well regulated militia''...was it what we would today call the ''National Guard'' or ''army reserve'' or was it a group of civilians carrying loaded AR 15's and rebel flags whooping and hollaring while a speaker hints at the need for violence to save the republic?  Do you actually think, were they alive today, that Ben Franklin, John Adams or James Madison would be supportive of unlimited open carry or be members/supporters of the NRA?

Advocate for the unlimited ''right'' to carry arms if you want (of course don't advocate shouting ''fire'' in a crowded theater when there is no fire) but don't try to credit Ben Franklin as founder of your belief.  I don't think there is any evidence Ben would appreciate being so honored.

awww so you are reading me before you log in now - aint that sweet, put me back on ignore before the stress causes you to expire before your fruit.

Lets start by fixing only some of your stupidity, because I do not have all week.

The term “militia of the United States” was defined to comprehend “all able-bodied male citizens of the United States and all other able-bodied males who have . . . declared their intention to become citizens of the United States,” between the ages of eighteen and forty-five.

It does not say National Guard, or freaks in the woods playing commando - It says ALL ABLE BODIED MALE CITZENS OF THE US AND ANYONE WHO DECLARED THEIR INTENTION TO BE A CITIZEN.

lets look at the text, of which you edited the 2nd amendment to fit your will:  So lets look at a few words you left out right before that pesky shall not be infringed, like right before it.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads: "A well regulated Militiabeing necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Armsshall not be infringed."

The right of the f'ing people to keep and bear arms.  It does not say that the right of the militia, state, fed gov etc to keep and bear arms.  What part of the right of "the people" do you not get?

Now lets take every limitation on the 2nd and apply it to the first and see how loud you whine.  I imagine our founders not having thought of TV, Radio, internet, forums etc.

Hell for that matter the right to vote, but could they have dreamed of the machines that are used to record your votes today?  Guess it should be handled in person on paper with a quill right?

Funny that the dems have filed for their latest firearms/ammo restrictions list so quickly.  I assume they would love to get it rammed through before midterms when they lose their asses.  Just wait till all those 1st time panick buying LIBERAL gun owners over the last year catch on.

You are a bloomin idiot.

Oh and while you have me off of ignore or are reading my comments - You sound like a bigger idiot posting over and over about yelling fire in a crowded theater - look it up, it was overturned around 50 years ago.

Pesky little words "of the people" are for libs today.  Today, "of the people" means "of we, the anarchists, rioters, looters, violent protesters, big government advocates, environmental misfits on the left"  and the rest of you can get used to being in the minority.  Even though there are 70-80 million of us that voted otherwise.

Here is one just for the liberal idiots, such as Antifatech who loves to go down the road of well do you think that the founders had thought of large capacity magazines and full auto machine guns do you think that they would have not put in more restrictions.

Tell me this - one of the most effective things during the revolutionary war was the bayonet because guns were slow to reload, crap range and accuracy.

Why every time a gun ban bill comes up is a bayonet lug listed as one of the items that leads toward a weapon being banned?  The bayonet was something that our founders new plenty about, used it to kick the redcoats back to their side of the pond. Now I may just not understand what our founders may have been able to imagine the possibilities having gone from using farm tools, to musket style shotguns like the brown bess and then finding the accuracy of rifling in long guns.  One thing I am sure of, if the founders had access to modern assault rifles - they would have picked them up in a heartbeat to defeat the enemy.  They adopted newer technology as it was presented over time as newer, better, more accurate arms were avialable.  They did not say, you know that long gun is just a bridge to far, the accuracy out to 100yds is just not sporting against our targets.

I hate to think it but the 2nd Amendment was designed for almost exactly the kind of trouble we are having today! Militia, to be effective, must have up to date arms. The men of America are the militia there fore they need up to date weapons. And that is just what the left is scared to death of.

The Constitution is the greatest political document in history. It onky binds those eho obey it. To those who don't, it is just a piece ifpaper!

Hey GfY - you keep saying that you own a firearm - you going to to turn it in or are you going to get the background check, psychological eval and 800$ annual insurance?  I know this is all just common sense legislation in your mind.  Please enlighten us are you going to crap out an extra $800 per year and jump through all the hoops .... I know you will turn it in like the good demonrat you are.

Edit - copied the actual wording below of the bill regarding mental eval, training etc.  Glad to know that the AG now will be licensing our rights to us.  So much for common sense gun control - this bill is a demonrat wish list and anyone who supports it, does not deserve the protections our constitution offers.  If the can require a license for the 2nd, why not the 1st, 4th,15th, 25th, 26th  etc?  Demonrats do not even support showing an ID to vote and now support have to have a license for your other rights.  Welcome to the Germany circa 1930s, Sieg Heil!!

Under H.R. 127, firearm owners must provide the ATF with the make, model, and serial number of every gun they have in their possession. This includes firearms people may have owned for multiple years. On top of that, Ammoland noted that “gun owners would have to report the identity of any person to whom, and any period of time during which, the firearm will be loaned to that individual.”

According to the licensing requirement, the license applicant has to go through a criminal background check. After that, they must undergo a psychological evaluation to determine if the person is psychologically fit enough to own a firearm. It doesn’t end there, however. Ammoland also observed that “Successful licensees must show they have an insurance policy which will cost $800.”

There is a reason why I prefer a split on the three branches of government, it reduces the idiots chances of stupidity.
