I've got a lake neighbor that has agreed to go nooling with me. Does anyone know of a guide in the Lake Martin area that will take us out on the weekend. We've got a couple of people that want to go along to video this outing. Any help will gratefull appreciated. If you need to e-mail me, please let me know and I will get back to you.

Drink heavily beforehand. ;-)

Ok....now that we have the spelling of "noodling" correct, do you have any info on noodling other than drinking heavily beforehand?

No. That's the only real requirement. ;-)

Well thank you Tirger62. If you think of anything new on noodling, give me a call at BR549. When I do find a guide and go noodling, I'll invite you to the fish fry.

I went Friday the 8th and I hate to tell you Lake Martin is not a good lake to do this on. We did get a 5 or 6 pounder but nothing like the 20 or 30lb fish we are used to. The lake is very deep and you guessed it, the catfish holes are deep as well, and without scuba gear they are almost impossible to get to. I have however had a lot of luck on the lakes off the Coosa River. I recommend going to the northern end of the river around the Weiss Lake area to get away from any fish advisories. I plan to take a few kids from church there this Friday to give it a shot. It is great fun and a good way to catch a lot of big fish that otherwise would take you several days. Good luck I hope it works for you.

Thanks, but I think I'll just go to Oskar's. ;-)

I've never noodled but I have catfished. It seems that up river around Horseshoe Bend and farther up would be a good place to try. As far as equipment... GLOVES!
