How do you reconcile the authorities mandating we the general populace wear face masks to prevent the spread of COVIOD 19 while at the same time they release prisoners, some known to be violent, as a way to prevent the spread?  A bit hypocritical on their part isn't it?

And as to the masks being effective or not, all you have to do is look around at what some pass off as adequate and the way they "wear" them.  Personally I prefer to avoid situations where the virus might be passed to me, and wear the mask when I "have to", and dont count on anyone else being "clean", mask or not.

It's not so much hypocrisy as it is nonsensical.  Like the nonsense that a mask protects other people from you but not the other way around.  That kind of scientific illiteracy is hard to overcome because it is based on invincible ignorance.  Somehow magically the virus can't get out of a mask you are wearing but it can get in from others not wearing their masks.  Covering your mouth when you cough or sneeze is just as effective in reducing droplets and neither that nor a mask prevent aerosols.  But don't expect leftists to get the irrefutable logic when they would prefer to mindlessly do what some politician tells them......sheeple are sheeple and that is all we can expect from them.

But to your point, if masks are effective make prisoners wear them and keep them where they belong.  It won't work but hey, if the left wants to tell us it does then there is zero reason to let anyone out of prison over Wuhan virus concerns....or maybe they are lying about why they want them out.  More chaos, more crime, more murders....looking at major American cities run by Democrats tells me that they seem to like that kind of stuff.

and disagree with your 2nd paragraph to the point it minimizes the fact that if masks were universally properly worn they would be effective in slowing the spread and agree that many idiots do not know how they should be worn and that staying out of situations where I could be exposed is the best way to stop the spread.  So what is your point...Are you advocating everybody staying home and shutting down the economy?  Don’t think MM and Trump will go for that.

Point is they are not proper and not being properly worn so expectations as to their effectiveness should be minimized. No, I absolutely do not advocate shutting down the economy and mimicking Joe Biden. Rather, wear a mask if you like and don't if you don't want to. Just be aware that the virus is out there and avoid high risk situations.

how do bars, restaurants, churches, music venues, schools, stadiums, airlines, public transit agencies, Home Depots and whore houses operate.  Sorry but if we all refuse masks and instead endeavour to never get into a dangerous situation it looks like a pretty well shut down economy to me.  The most common high risk situation is somebody who is not wearing a mask coughing as they pass you by.  Just wear a mask Mt H and go on down to Home Depot, everybody there will be masked so you shoild be ok.

Easy answers to all.  Please remember that I do not consider the mask to be protection from the virus.....and I sure as hell would scurry away from someone unmasked who is coughing or sneezing, even though I wouldstart out six feet or more away AND wearing a (hardly useful) mask as required by the government.  The aerosols are there and one needs to stay the hell away.  Now, let me say this:  whatever school allowed those masses of students to occupy the same narrow hallway without requiring any protection was being pretty dumb, because distancing was nigh on to impossible.  The virus is there, no doubt.  Not allowing for adequate separation flies in the face of logic, and unnecessary infections will be the likely outcome.

Bottom line:  Masks might be somewhat useful in reducing the likelihood of transmission FROM the infected one (by way of the "big droplets"), but it is not the panacea that some would have you believe.  Folks need to use good judgement!
