Replace the word dock with the forum acronym for such and then you have the answer for these individuals that way they are easy to identify and stay far away from their vessels.

serious question, so what? some people just feel more comfortable with all the light they can get. I dont see it as a hazard to anyone or a distraction. So, who cares?

The issue is it BLINDS everyone else.  It is also illegal and will get you a nice ticket if seen by the MP.

Yes, BLINDS.
Any intense white light at night destroys night vision.

Rules of the water depend on proper lighting. If a fool has docking lights on, they are lowering their night vision along with every one else that looks their way.  This creates an unsafe situation for everyone. It's amazing how many boaters are clueless to both safety and the laws of boating.

As someone once told me, I think it might have been Cat, "there are people who own boats and there are boaters"

Yep I use docking lights, spotlight, or whatever else I need in order to see where I'm going. And yes I'm pretty sure that I don't really care what you or anyone thinks about it. I guess you must be the type of DA that drives around at night without their headlights on so they don't hurt their "night vision.". Don't worry I shine my spot into the water ahead; I won't hit you right in the eyes.
