The Secretary of Energy under George W. Bush, Samuel Bodman, had a doctorate in chemical engineering from MIT. The first man who held that cabinet post under President Obama, Stephen Chu, won the Nobel Prize in Physics. The current leader of the Department of Energy, Ernest Moniz, ran the physics department at MIT.
That doesn't mean they are perfect public servants who knew how manage a huge bureaucracy, but they came equipped with a baseline knowledge of our nuclear stockpile, naval reactors, energy conservation, radioactive waste disposal, and genomics - which are the principal job requirements.
The next Energy Secretary is an oil man and climate change denier who attended Texas A&M - where he flunked Organic Chemistry II, got D's in Organic Chem lab and Organic Chem I, and C's in physics and chemistry - before growing up to believe that the Department of Energy should be abolished.
Science isn't really Rick Perry's thing. There's no shame in that. Certainly, Donald Trump doesn't think so.
But as Rep. Frank Pallone (NJ-6th) put it, "It is deeply unsettling that our current Secretary of Energy, a renowned nuclear physicist, could be succeeded by a contestant on Dancing with the Stars."

So tell us, what does degrees get us? Idiots like o-BAMMIE? What were his grades? Tell us, we've can't find out, because the idiot hid his grades. Perry was governor of Texas, the largest energy producing state in the USA, for many years. What do degrees get you? Degrees don't fix stupidity.....look at o-BAMMIE.......I rest my case.

Trump has constantly reminded us how smart he is and that he is a graduate of Wharton. Have you seen his grades? You just hate the black President and harp on his grades.
Trump actually transferred to Wharton for his last 2 years with the help of his daddy. He went to Fordham for his first 2 years. Where are his grades big boy?????????
Why are Obammie's grades so important but not Trumps?????? I got if figured out Trump is white....

I have commented a couple of times before about the need to produce a college transcript when applying for a job. Why is the President and the President-elect who hold or will hold the highest office in our government immune from producing their college transcript? Every position I ever applied for required a copy of my college transcript or I would not get the interview. As a recruiter for a major company I interviewed college students for Chemical Engineering positions. Their college transcript was the "primary" interest in the interview, followed by evaluation of the other attributes that are normally considered in the hiring of a well rounded candidate. An applicant who refuses to produce his or her college transcript normally does not get an interview. The fact that our President and President-elect are not transparent about their academic accomplishments can only make one think that there is something to hide.

Let's compare your idiot president's job experience with TRUMP's. You go first. Compare the community organizer with the self made billionaire. We want a very detailed synopsis. Then compare Perry's experience with your current Energy Sec. global warming expert.

I found that your degree and transcript helps you get the first couple of jobs, then your experience and reputation take over and guide you to a successful career. Academics are your first sign of success, but that ends pretty soon then work ethic and common sense take over.

Some of the commenters on here just don't get the "drain the swamp" idea that got Trump elected.

I understand draining the swamp and have np issue with it. But, I wonder who is filling the swamp now? Trump knows more than the Generals...but fills keys positions with Generals....let's see Hillary was in bed with Goldman Sachs....who is filling the financial swamp?
Secretary of State...a guy who is buddies with Putin....Housing Carson who said he was not capable of running a Department when there was talk about him running Health....
But, I am willing to be patient...unlike the Right and Obama I want the President to succeed.

Edison was thrown out of the 6th grade because he was a dreamer, Bill Lear made it to the 9th grade, Churchill did very poorly in English, Henry Ford also made it to the 6th grade. Today's college grad who can't write, who doesn't where Canada is on the map, who doesn't know who we gained our independence from and can't make change if his computer is down is really prepaired isn't he/she/it? However, they do know who Harriet Tupman was, global warming is settled science, Selma amd Jefferson owned slaves. That's useful isn't it?

Great response to support that education is not all that counts in a person's ability to succeed in today's world. Sometimes a little "common sense" goes a long way.
