Have never seen so much money poured into a House race in my lifetime. It appears that Democrats are going to spend $30M to try to win one very winnable seat. And true to form, Ossoff is presenting himself as a conservative who is going to cut waste and defeat ISIS....in short, he is lying about what he believes in order to get elected, a very common attritbute of a Democrat politician. To the extent they pull off a win, and it is very possible they will, they will way overplay the significance. Trump only won this district by 1%. And the Democrats are offering free bus and uber rides to get young people to the polls. And they have outspent the GOP by 2 to 1.......all to win one seat.
They will of course not want to talk about every other special election that they have lost. They will focus on the one that they had to win by spending unsustainable or repeatable amounts of money on a candidate willing to lie to get elected. That folks is an act of desparation for them to hold a seat until 2018 when Ossoff will be voted out of office....assuming he wins in the first place. My polling place which is a solidly conservative area was as busy as I have seen it on an off-year election.

It is rather amazing that it is even close. Tom Price Secretary of Health won is 2016 62% to 38%. Republicans have held the seat since 1979. The GOP candidate Handel was Secretary of State and has run for Governor. The Dem candidate is an unknown and doesn't live in the district.. It should be a landslide for the Republican.
"Through May 31, he has received about $23.6 million, with almost 65 percent of those funds coming from donations of $200 or less. Where Handel has Ossoff beat, however, is in outside spending totals. Super PACs have not been shy about showing their support for either candidate, but Handel has been the beneficiary of twice as much outside money as Ossoff. Outside spending boosting her campaign or attacking Ossoff totaled $18.2 million as of June 19, against just under $8 million by groups backing Ossoff or opposing Handel."

Goofy, I live in the 6th and I can tell you that it has been changing for years culminating with Trump only winning by 1%. Tom Price won handily because the Democrats have had lousy candidates (in some years none at all) that got zero support from outsiders. Had the DNC, outside groups and donors given over $35M to a candidate willing to lie about what they believe as Ossoff has I can assure you that while Price would likely have still won it would not have been anywhere near his typical margin of victory. There has been a large growth of minorities and younger liberals in the district (mostly in portions of Fulton and DeKalb county in the 6th) that are traditional Democrat voters. So no, this is not some harbinger of the future or even remotely what the left wants to claim.....it is a sign of their abject desparation for a victory, any victory......
As for your opensecrets quote, I will take the slant of a liberal organization like this with a grain of salt. But it is interesting that they admit that 95% of the mony Ossoff raised came from outside the district, which I guess is appropriate given that he doesn't even live in the 6th. Outside groups are supporting Handel because of the millions pouring into his campaign from outside the district and outside the state. And despite Handel having enjoyed about $5M more in PAC support than Ossoff, his combined expenditures far exceed that spent in support of Handel. And its not even close.....
I thought I had advised you against blindly copying and pasting liberal talking points without thinking critically. You just can't help yourself despite repeated humiliations.

He's a liberal and as such has no shame and "knows so much that just isn't so" to quite the godfather. When I saw the thread with good responding and then you again I knew it would be entertaining. I thought this will be interested, goofy the mental midget, is going to try to explain to one of the most political astute men I know what is happening in the district that you live in. Priceless entertainment, and yet totally free. Whee!

It's like shooting fish in a barrel. Funny thing is Ossoff got 800 donations from the state of Georgia and over 7,000 from California.....so much for Goofy's small donors....... At my polling station this morning it was very busy. I live in a more conservative area of Cobb County. Apparently the polling stations in Roswell and Alpharetta are likewise very busy.
One funny story, I got a text today from the Ossoff campaign offering me a cheap uber ride to get to the polls. I responded back telling them I appreciated the opportunity to get a cheap ride to vote for Handel and would tell all my Handel voting friends about their special code. No response as yet.......

Update on early voting

According to polls Ossoff leads the early voting anywhere from 51% to 54%. If it's 51% then Handel will likely win. If it's 54% then it will be very close. Ossoff needed to closer to 59% to assure a win, at least based on historical results. Also watching the media starting to hedge their bets about the importance of this race. So who knows how it will end but if the poll results from early voting are accurate then it will be very close. Last poll before today showed Handel with a 2% lead which was within the margin of error.
Prediction based on results: Ossoff wins - the media will declare the end of the Trump presidency and conclude that the Democrats will take control of the House in 2018. If Handel wins by a slim margin - the media will declare the end of the Trump presidency and conclude that the Democrats will take control of the House in 2018. If Handel wins more easily - the media will declare that this race never really mattered, it was a lock for any Republican and that it signals the end of the Trump presidency and conclude that the Democrats will take control of the House in 2018.

Have been following the election results in Georgia. I listened to Karen Handel's acceptance speech and she is a very gracious and impressive lady. She puts women like Nancy Pelosi and Elizabeth Warren to shame. Oh, I forgot to include Hillary. Also, it was interesting to note that the 7000 donors from California compared to the 800 donors from Georgia didn't let the snowflakes from California speak for the people of Georgia. Why is there not an "investigation" into California's interference in Georgia's election? I don't want anyone in California to have anything to do with making decisions about who is elected to represent my views in Congress. The sooner they secede from the United States the better. In addition, Republican Ralph Norman from South Carolina won the seat in the House. The score in recent elections is: R-5, D-0. Looks like the Democrats are having a hard time finding an electable "Snowflake".

Very interesting analogy. Entertaining and spot on. Wish I had of thought of it and if I could cut and paste from/to the forum I would circulate it to several folks. I don't live in GA but all 4 sisters do. I am going to text the link to them.

Thanks for the compliment, I always enjoy your contributions to the forum. I'm an Alabama resident but California's meddling just became too much to let slide by without voicing my opinion. Will be interested to hear what your sisters have to say. Don't take offense to this but I think they might respond like GoneFishin, Architect, and Copperline, and not come out from their warm, cozy hiding places.

I am the youngest at 58, and the oldest is 70.she is the only one that actually lives GA06. The others live south of the city. Only one is a liberal, and she is also a total idiot to boot. She loves to start political "discussions" at every family gathering, only to be blasted with facts, logic and reason which she is incapable of realizing how ridiculous she sounds. Just another liberal idiot that knows so much that just isn't so.

Thanks for your "candid" response. I am 77 and sometimes my maturity seems to dictate some of my responses. I try not to rile too many feathers, but the "idiots" that have surfaced over recent years sometimes makes it hard to keep my mouth shut. I wish those that don't support our Constitution and don't "honor" our "American Flag" would buy a "one way" ticket to North Korea, Iran. or any of the other countries which hate America. I believe there are enough "true" Americans that we could ante up enough money to fund a one way trip.
