Called to check on winter hours and phone has been temporarily disconnected. Any news, anyone?

I also noticed they are no longer advertising on the forum web site. What a shame.

That's too bad. Wonder if they will reopen for the season here on the lake or will open another place in Auburn. Wasn't there a possibility of the chef being featured on a cooking show?

they [Christopher's] must not have heard 'the recession is over'

I don't think it's the recession. It's hard for any restaurant to make it in this area in the off-season, particularly one that down on the water. Although the truth was that Christophers had a very varied menu, a lot of people on this forum seemed to think they were too expensive to frequent and not casual enough.

All too true!

True. The great loss was Green Valley Market. Great food at the right price with friendly comfortable atmosphere.

I still like Oscars, it's just that a more variety of seafood is needed and with a lake view.

Elvis and his friends eat there on a regular basis, and that is what keeps Oskar in business.

We frequented Chris's place on the Auburn-Opelika road when he was located there. Food was always excellent. We happended to be their his last night at this location. He told us he was moving to Montgomery on the river. Shortly thereafter he appeared at Blue Creek. I guess the Montgomery move did not work out.

To me it is a restaurant for a special night out with our spouse or relevant other due to the prices of meals. Not sure us lake folks can afford to make regular visits. We have been to the Blue Creek location quite often, very good food and service. I hope they are taking a break until the summer crowd comes back.

I wonder if the foreclosure has any bearing on this? We'd talked with him only a month ago and no hint of anything amiss then.

for us. There is just not enough population density to make it work. I finally got hacked off and bought my own stone and pizza peel. I let the bread machine make the dough. Not exactly a prize winner but as good as the delivery stuff. Is there a real NY pizza joint in Auburn?

You must be kidding...
Being from NJ and all, I would kill for a good NY pizza. I can make a reasonable facsimile at home, but it's just not "it".
