Russia is not the only country to push propaganda to its citizens.

Now Biden is saying that no one expected that sanctions would stop Putin from invading Ukraine.  Huh?  I thought that was why were were threatening Putin with sanctions.

Ask yourself why we have the 82nd Airborne units on the NATO country borders with Ukraine.  What other units do we have there?  With today's weaponry, you don't have to see the whites of their eyes to engage them in warfare.  Putin appears to have his hands full in Ukraine, so why do we seem to think that he is going to cross the border?

We just approved a hugh security assistance package to Ukraine, yet, that is not the fastest way to get material assistance to Ukraine, unless we intend to divert military equipment from our own troops to Ukraine.  Are you willing to sacrifice the security of our country for Ukraine?

Notice that no one in this administration talks about the low scale conflict that Ukraine and Russia have been fighting over the disputed areas since he took over Crimea in 2014 (while he and Obama did nothing).

And what are we promising these European countries, like say, Germany to do our bidding?

And it goes to show that the UN is useless - Russia vetoed a UN resolution to condemn them for invading Ukaine, so our Ambassador to the UN gave them a stern talking to.

Like everyone else, I feel for the Ukrainian people, who are being used by Putin and Biden in a high stakes international fight.  Today Russia put its nuclear teams on high alert.  My question is why twist and turn our society, as the "great transformer" Biden wants to do, only to lose everything in a nuclear war?

I personally think you're giving Biden far too much credit.  There is very little going on in what is left of his limited brainpower at its peak. I doubt he recallls what he had for breakfast.  All he can currently manage is to read off a teleprompter and even then he screws that up all the time.  There is no critical thought going on and his sypases are barely firing.  The reality is we have no President.  Only handlers behind the scenes chasing off the press when they ask questions and finding Dementia Joe a toothpick.  He literally in my honest opinion doesn't know where he is half the time.

And I can assure you that is the view of Putin and Xi as well.  They are playing chess and Dementia Joe is taking his third nap of the day.

My Huh? came when I read that military intelligence is surprised it is taking so long.  They figured Ukraine would be taken quickly.   If that is the case, and the action was always imminent, then why take so long to take measures that bite.  Hit the energy from Russia NOW.  I understand that Germany and others are in a bind on that but a mean tweeter warned them.

Open US production now wherever you can.   Hit hard on financials.

Now as for the war.  My heart is with those resilient people.  Like us their country has its faults but these people love freedom and will fight for it.  I am not smart enough to know how we can help militarily but this man MUST be stopped.

I am glad the Ukrainians have the right to bear arms, and us too.

What should Biden have done  to stop  Putin from invading Ukraine?

I don't believe that short of nuking Russia, anything could have been done to keep Putin from invading.  So why spend all the time talking about sanctions?  Even now that we are implementing them, we are doing little to Putin and mostly putting the hurt on the Russian people.  This idea that the US can prevent other countries/people from doing the things that they have decided to do is just ridiculous.  We are not the policemen of the world.  Yet, we can't seem to get past the notion that we are and can.

Looks  like your response is typical Right Wing. Make big time talk and criticize whatever the President does but have no suggestion. Obviously,  you can't just hurt Putin unless you steal his horse. He is killing Ukraines so what is wrong making life tough for his fellow Russians?  The sanctions are so broad I suspect they will bring peace.

Ukrain is so corrupt that even Joe is embarrassed!  But the US is guilty of reneging on promises that Putin had not choice but to act.  The people are caught in the middle.  But it's not our war and no reason to be concerned given the current state of the union.

My response is not typical right wing.  So you tell me, did anything that Biden did prevent Putin from invading Ukraine?

It doesn't change that Biden is an idiot.  Maybe when the nukes are landing you will realize Biden is an idiot.

So you honestly believe that Putin is going to throw up his hands and back his tanks out of Ukraine because of the sanctions?  Do you think he cares if the Russian people suffer?  Just like when we sanctioned Iran and the Iranian people suffered?

Putin isn't going to stop until he wins.  You obviously have read nothing about the man.

What should Biden have done to prevent Putin from invading Ukraine? Using sanctions before  the invasion would have provided another reason for Putin to invade. Calling the President an idiot is not the answer. Quit going in circles...what advice would you have provided the President if you were still in the Pentagon?

Nuclear war is what I would expect from WIX.

List of things he could have done to prevent the invasion.  First, he should have declined to run for President, thereby allowing Sanders to be the nominee and there is no way they could have cheated enough to make self avowed socialist the winner so Trump would be President and we would have four more years of calm as bad actors would be hunkered down.  This is why Putin chose to invade now, just like he invaded Crimea when the WH was occupied by another wimp (Obama), backed up by the feckless Biden.

But he didn't so he could have not approved Nordstream 2 which would deny Putin petro dollars and influence over western Europe.  He could have continued with the Keystone pipeline and promoted our energy industry so we would be a net exporter.  He could have been even mildly competent in the withdrawal from Afghanistan instead of being a bumbling idiot which emboldened our adversaries.  He could have nominated competent people to his admin that understand how to project strength and resolve instead of weakness and incompetence.  He could have pushed back on NATO expansion to the east which Russia takes as a threat to their security and remove one  reason to invade.  He could have told Putin that if he invades the U.S. would push for them to be removed from SWIFT which would destroy the wealth of the oligarchs which would have gotten them to push back on his expansion plans.

But at the end of the day there was probably nothing that Biden could have done to convince Putin that having a senile, old man who was wrong on pretty much every foreign policy decision in his entire career in the WH was a once in a lifetime opportunity to realize his ambition to reassemble the USSR at very little cost.  With Trump they had no idea what he would do which was why they simply could not take the chance.  With Dementia Joe they knew that the U.S. would not be an obstacle.

Not going home over the weekend would have been a good start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Link

"Surprised by the unusually rapid European decision, the White House(BIDEN) scrambled over the weekend to catch up in drafting its own related measures"    - sounds to me like playing catch up and look I am doing something too!!! - Biden is not leading the free world, he is probably doing that "lead from behind" like he did under Obama  - otherwise known as following.

Another contrast with Trump that says it all.  Dementia Joe heads to a beach house in Delaware in the winter and Trump went to Mar A Lago in sunny, warm south Florida.  Heck, even Obama went to Hawaii in the winter and GWB had his Texas ranch......all warm places where a person with control of their faculties would choose over freezing their butt off in Delaware.

And now we have his handlers telling him to blame his lousy poll numbers on us being too depressed from the ChiCom virus to realize what a swell job he's doing.  This is beyond delusional bordering on insanity.  First, we are not "depressed" about a virus, we are enraged at our government for acting like two bit dictators that enriched big businesses at the expense of small ones, ruined lives, mentally and physically abused our children and are now changing all that due not to science, but because of polls.  Second, despite the pathetic attempt at gaslighting, we realize that the country is in the crapper, the world is even worse and our President is a senile, incoherent moron and the woman that is backing him up is even worse.

Not just the polls - they know the midterms are coming and are hoping for people to have a short memory as to their BS and lies.

I know you have him on ignore but when even Antifatech has returned to posting since GFY was doing so poorly in defending Slow Joe and the cackling nut job.

And to think I gave him credit for his absence.......apparently far too much credit.  I suppose I would have been shocked if he had the intellectual honesty to admit that Dementia Joe is an abject failure, is destroying the country and it is all worth it to be rid of Trump.  Because that is what he really believes......even deep down Goofy knows what is really going on but he will never admit it.  Too much pride.  Archie on the other hand is certifiable and probably actually believes it despite all objective evidence to the contrary.  He is like Kevin Bacon's ROTC character in Animal House.  I can see Archie standing there screaming "ALL IS WELL!!!  ALL IS WELL!!!"

Well his comment was basically that Trump would end his right to free speech in his 2nd term because he did not get around to it in his first 4 years and something about abortion regarding 14 or 15 year old knocked up by pawpaw and that Rittenhouse was a thug with an illegal gun ( all in one post )

Your not missing much by having him on ignore !!!!!!

I have often thought long and hard about giving the 1st ignore to one of the two liberal nuts  - but then I lose all posts in response to the ignored - that often are much more educational then the rantings of the liberal insane(I repeat myself).

host Chuck Todd, who is about as liberal as they get, suggested this weekend that Biden postpone the State of the Union address, and just speak from the WH about Ukraine.

I don't even know if the American people can squint hard enough to see through the rosy glasses that Biden wants to look through.  Now there is even the threat of nuclear war.  And Biden's poll numbers have dropped again to a new low.

Sorry, I was a defense person not a State Department weenie.  I mean, what do you do when Putin has been isolating himself for the past 2 years, working his little resentments into a full scale rage, with no one except his syncophants and yes-men to talk him down?  He saw our messy, and disasterous departure from Afghanistan, saw the rioting in the streets and no doubt figured that Biden would be too busy putting out fires from his disasters to notice that Putin was marching into Ukraine.

I wasn't privy to all the intel, I wasn't privy to the discussions or the negotiations, but I do recall Biden saying a minor incursion might be okay (which the WH quickly walked back).   If I were still in the Pentagon, I would have been putting together the security assistance package, putting out diversion instructions to our military and I would have been working any disclosure issues that were coming up.  I'm sure he got a lot of advice from his operational commanders and the joint chiefs, as well as his national security team in the EOB, although it seems that even the experts don't seem to know what to expect from Putin at this point.  Even the vaulted LTC, ex-NSC "expert" on Ukaine, hasn't offered anything worth listening to.  And for his actions, we were going to crown him and fire Trump.

You still haven't said what you think should have been done or even should be done now.  I don't have a freakin clue.

Yours below reminding me about the "minor incursion" kerfluffle was an excellent point.  Couple of ways Vlad could have looked at this.  One, Dementia Joe was signaling that we would not object to them invading Ukraine as long as it was a "minor" incursion....whatever that means.  Two, Dementia Joe is a senile old fool being run by incompetent leftists like Ron Klain and Susan Rice and this is a golden opportunity to take advantage of the fact that the leader of free world can't recall what he had for breakfast, had approval ratings in the 30's, inflation through the roof, a decimated domestic oil and gas industry making us dependent on foreign oil again, a stock market in decline, rampant crime, etc.

If Putin believes the former then Marco Rubio is right that there is something wrong with him.  The reality is that Putin is in a precarious position.  He is a typical kleptocrat that has amassed massive wealth stored all over the west.  But he only keeps his ill-gotten goods if he stays in power.  Otherwise whoever replaces him will have him arrested for "corruption" so they can now be the owner of all his wealth.  He has imperial ambitions to at least return the Russian empire to greatness and maybe even assemble the USSR as a world power.  But he is beholden to the military and the oligarchs.  He can maybe afford to lose a certain number of either but not all of either or both.  If he loses them he loses power.  And if he loses power he loses his wealth and probably his life.  And if his mind is off and he starts to feel threatened he may become very unpredictable and more dangerous than ever.

Personally I felt the minor incursion was a green light from Biden, once he started the incursion had troops and tanks etc inside Ukraine with the Bidens blessings what was to stop him from doing what he is doing now?  Biden did not draw a red line in the sand like Obama ( and ignore it ) that says your minor incursion must stop at X and not send a 40 mile long caravan to choke off the capital, drop cluster bombs and thermobaric weapons on civilian targets.

Biden is weak and is still doing his best to play catch up to the rest of the world.

I don't know that Biden is trying to play catch up.....I don't believe he has the mental acuity to do anything more than what he is told to do, and then not very well.  Frankly his blank stare and picking his teeth while his minions pushed the media out of the room was the poster child for what we are facing.  And the govt media is as much to blame as any group or entity.  That they put up with this and provide shade for this mental midget......um, well...I mean mental vertically challenged moron...is a bigger threat to this country than Dementia Joe.  We'll see what happens in 2022 but if we don't have a major reset in Congress I can't imagine the damage that can be done between then and 2024.

Well after the midterms we can look forward to hard hitting media questions ( aimed at republicans ) again.  And if and when a republican retakes the White House we can look forward to the media waking up from their coma, shaking the dust off and starting to look into the republican president like the IRS/DOJ/NY AG/.... looks at Trumps taxes/business dealings/comb over.
