First of all, I didn't realize there could be no Confederate memorialsor monuments. The issue with the flag is whether it should be flown on the grounds of the State House in SC.  It has not been outlawed.  Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to fly the flag of a failed "nation" that only existed for a few years over a hundred years ago, especially when people find it offensive.  German made the Nazi flag illegal after the 2nd WW and I think they did the right thing. 

But you raise an interesting question about Miss Black America, now that black women compete in the Miss America pagent.  Personally, I think all these pagents should be done away with (although I competed in more than my share when I was young), because the only value I see is the scholarship money that they might win.  But, as I said to MM today, live and let live.  They also have black debutant balls, although I don't understand debutant balls anymore either.  They were merely a means to announce that a woman was now "out" in society and looking for a husband.  I think social media and various dating sites now take care of that.

The time has come to do away with Miss Black America. I think it exists as Hound says for the scholarships. The use of Black this or White this should end in our country. It has for sports and it is time that we as Americans to pursue "One America".

That is the most sensible thing you have ever posted.  I would love to see us do away with black fraternities/sororities, NAACP and all other groupings that divide us.  But I can tell you that view is anethama to the modern Democrat party and all the other race baiters and poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton.  And that is anethama to our current President who has spent the last 6 plus years dividing us on the basis of race.  Only will happen when the so-called leadership of the black community is no longer financially rewarded for dividing us and harping on the sins of the past.

   The perpetually offended will contue to be perpetually offended. This only encourages more caterwauling. It seems they don't mind offending me (yes, some are more equal than others). I think we should award them half of a peace sign and tell them to live with it just as we do!
