First I don't own one so this is based on all the hoopla and reading reviews and the Apple website so take it with a grain of salt.  First of all I don't get the appeal although I do realize I am probably not their target demographic.  To me they are really unattractive.  Maybe I am missing something but it seems to me most people wear watches as a piece of jewelry that has the added benefit of giving you the time.  Secondly, other than the health monitoring function does the watch have useful features that don't already come on a smart phone?  Not that I can tell although I suppose its more convenient for some apps.  It also seems really large.

Would be interesting to hear from any innovators out there that have bought one.  The iPad I get and have several.  The iPhone I also get. The watch not so much.  Will be interesting to see if it has legs or peters out after the initial rush.  More importantly to our culture, will Bruce Jenner get one before or after his surgery and hormone treatments and does anyone care now that he has come out of closet as a Replubican?!?!?!?  OK, that last part was gratuitous and a sligh non sequitar.

I haven't bought an Apple Watch but I've read a lot about it. I can't think of a reason to buy one personally. It can't replace your phone with voice/SMS capability so you still have to have a phone in your pocket or on your belt clip. It is designed as an extension/companion/accessory to an iPhone but will operate some apps independently.

The only market that I can think that would benefit from it is people that jog/walk and want to know what time it is and/or more importantly record/monitor their heart/distance/path during exercise. It does eliminate carrying a phone for those purposes. Most people that play ball sports or work out with weights don't like wearching a watch of any kind. People that walk/run don't like anything in their pockets.

It also won't work with Android phones (iPhones only)... So although a huge market, Apple has alienated 50% of their market. It doesn't have a GPS radio in the watch either, so it relies on having an iPhone nearby.

About all the use you get without an iPhone is a Heart Rate Sensor, an Accelerometer and a Bluetooth radio for listening to music on bluetooth headphones. It does have a Wi-Fi radio, but you'll need to have wireless access (something you're not going to have running down the road or walking through the woods). It is also NOT waterproof, which is a huge deal-breaker for boating and swimming for me.

My two cents. I'll be sticking with the Timex Ironman watch for now.

I don't get it either.  Looks like it would  annoying on the wrist and I can't imaginehow I would use it.

I just wish Bruce Jenner would go away.  I already know more than I want to.

Agree on both.  I frankly do not get the fascination with a watch that you have to charge every night.  I already have too many devices that have to be charged.  I could be wrong but I am thinking it will not do well.

I'll be surprised if it does well.  Some techies will buy it (probably the same ones that buy Google glasses and upgrade their phone every time a new version comes out), but I don't see a market rush.

This may be the end of downsizing screens and keeping the same functionality.  I already have trouble with some web sites on my smart phone.  Whack that screen b 70-80% and I think you reach the point of lunacy.
