Bush Asked to Leave Ft.Hood

I went to Snopes.com and the consenus was "undetermined".
A man sent his cousin in Fayetteville , N.C. (retired from Special Forces) the picture of Geo. W. visiting the wounded at Ft. Hood .
He got this story back:
When George W. Bush heard about Fort Hood, he and Laura got in his car without any escort, apparently they did not have time to react, and drove to Fort Hood. He was stopped at the gate and the guard could not believe who he had just stopped. Bush only ask for directions to the hospital then drove on.
The gate guard called that "The president Is on Fort Hood and driving to the hospital." The base went bananas looking for Obama.
When they found it was Bush they immediately offered escort and Bush simply told them to let him visit the wounded and the dependents of the dead. He stayed at Fort Hood for over six hours and was finally asked to leave by a message from the White House.
Obama flew in days later and held a "photo " session in a gym and did not even go to the hospital. All this I picked up from two soldiers here who happened to be at Fort Hood when it happened.

Bush still is a class act and sincere and not looking for a photo op or did he even care if the outside world knew he was there. He was there for one reason, he cared about those injured by the terrorist attack of an individual that was on Obama's hand picked homeland security transition team.

That was a class act visiting Ft Hood. However, you posted a story that was embellished and lost the effect of Bush's class act. Rather, it became a damning action that he was asked to leave after 6 hours. Here is a more factual description.
Bill Sammon - FOXNews.com - November 07, 2009
George W. Bush Secretly Visits Fort Hood Victims
Former President George W. Bush and his wife Laura secretly visited Fort Hood last night and spent "considerable time" consoling those who were wounded in Thursday's shooting spree, Fox News has learned.
The Bushes entered and departed the sprawling military facility in secret, having told the base commander they did not want press coverage of their visit, a source told Fox News.
The couple was described as "deeply concerned" about military families on Fort Hood after Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly opened fire on soldiers and civilians, killing 13 and wounding 38.
The Bushes, who have a 1,600-acre property known as Prairie Chapel Ranch less than 30 miles from Fort Hood in central Texas, spent between one and two hours visiting the wounded and their families.

The truth probably lies somewhere between, but I honestly think you would argue with a fencepost - unless you thought it was a left wing progressive fencepost.

Hey hob knob, just for you......
The claim that when President Obama visited Fort Hood he merely "held a photo session in a gym" is false. President Obama traveled to Fort Hood and spent four hours there on 10 November 2009, attending a memorial service for the victims of the shooting and meeting with the families of the dead and the wounded:
Barack Obama held emotional meetings at Fort Hood, Texas, with the relatives of the 13 victims of [the] shooting rampage and condemned what he referred to as the "twisted logic" of the gunman.
Before the service, Obama and first lady Michelle Obama met privately with the families of the dead and some of the wounded. The first couple also planned to visit wounded troops in the hospital before they returned to Washington.
Speaking to thousands of people at a memorial service at the base, Obama said what made the tragedy more painful and more incomprehensible was that it had happened not on a foreign field but on American soil.
Obama postponed a trip to Asia to attend the memorial service, where he read out the names and a brief history of each of the victims. Near the lectern where he delivered his address, 13 pairs of boots were placed, each with a rifle and helmet, along with photographs of the dead.
Many soldiers and relatives expressed gratitude that the president had come to help them grieve, with many breaking into tears.

Why do you have such a problem with the truth? Sometimes, you just need to suck it up and realize all that is posted by Wing Nuts is not factual.
NOW OFF TO WATCH THE BUD SHOOTOUT.

I have no problem with the truth. In this case there are two stories, each of which is plausible, and I stated that the truth was probably somewhere between. Your post to h_hob appears to quote someone else - but without attribution.
I am a big boy and can handle it. Save your insults little boy for those they might actually bother.

I don't find it hard to believe that the Bushes went to Ft. Hood and visited the hospital. I don't believe for a minute that they were asked to leave by the WH or anyone else. The only reason Bush might have been asked to leave would be if the Secret Service or Base Security didn't feel they could guarantee his safety or security.
Of course Obama was at Ft. Hood and I know for a fact he visited the hospital. As also pointed out, he met with the families of the dead and wounded.
You know, politics don't rule everything. If millions of Americans can open their pockets for the people of Haiti, who are unknown to them, I don't think it's such a stretch to imagine that the former and the present Commanders-in-Chief would reach out to our own troops. Not everything is a photo op.

Like it or not he is the CINC. Any one who has been in the military knows that some commanders are worthy of their commends. others not. But they are still, by definition and assignment, commanders and so is he.
Now whether he is worthy of the title or whether he is effective in the post, that is another discussion and I strongly suspect you and I will be on the same side of that argument.

Agree he isn't worthy, nor has he shown the leadership one would expect from our CINC. We are just stuck with him because of one of the biggest electoral scams in history. Ay least he is a scheming Chicago politician and not a pie in the sky rube from rural Georgia that relies on his teenage daughter for policy advice.

They didn't. Don't cherry-pick his words. Command is legislated, respect is earned. Obama, although the Commander in Chief IAW the Constitution, has not earned the respect of a Commander In Chief.
