Here is a picture of the Chris Craft plant. I have visited various boat manufacturers over the years and what always strikes me is how there is no assembly line. It is labor intensive.

They make a quality product. I have a Chris Craft 262 Sundeck and its just a wonderful boat. Many, many fun hours. Did have to replace the engine but it has been a great ride over the years.

The history of Chris Craft over the past 25 years is quite interesting. The current owner is Winnebago.

Had the priviledge of visiting Chris Craft plant a few times as son used to be an engineer with them prior to the 2008 downturn. Great experience for him and a really good company making quality boats.

Just for fun I went to their website and built a 27' version which is close to the size of mine. With all the bells and whistles it came to $206K!!

New boat prices for a quality product have gone insane. The wakeboard boats are $150K+ and they are 22'-24'. Pontoon boats with a single engine are a little over $100k. Chris Chraft boats are beautiful and really not that much more than other quality manufactures. I guess the 20 year financing for boats has driven the costs up...

It was fun to put it together on their website and a truly beautiful boat. I think the base cost was around $150K and I added every goody I could imagine. I bought my first house in Georgia in 1989 and it cost $110,000 brand new. Four BR on slab. Couldn't even get the base model for that.......zowza!

Interesting! I bought my first house in Alabama in 1971 and it cost $29,500, 4 bedroom and carport!
