Is there any difference in an oil pump for a marine 350 engine and a regular 350? Thanks.

Somewhat of a loaded question. Depends on the brand, and purpose of the duty asks of the oil pump. As far as "purpose" goes.... Your car/truck engine does not run at extended RPM ranges (say 4,000-5,000) for extended periods. Try it in your truck, and it just don't work. So, that being said, for a Marine oil pump it needs to be adjusted to pump good volume, but NOT high pressure/Volume for long periods. What happens is the engine will "pump" all of the oil from the Pan (or supply source) to the top of the engine, and exhaust the supply. This is an adjustment (done with springs/brands) that the engine tuner decides. For very common applications, it is set up to the builders likes. Also, any adjustments can be overcome with engine oiling priorities with bearing clearances from lower bearings to valvetrain clearances. However, most Marine Oil pans hold more engine oil, and can overcome any issues. I don't mean to be vague with this answer, but you have brought forth a VERY important issue, that, in a Hi-performance application we address all the time. In a nutshell, the pumps are the same, but you must address each application. Sorry, I can't be more specific without more information. Thanks for a detailed question. Very hard answer.
Respectfully,
Steve

Sorry for the loaded question but that pretty much told me what we needed to know. Thanks again.

Are you in the process of replaceing an oil pump? Or perhaps rebuilding an engine?
