Coming back from Atlanta this AM, I listened to Al Sharpton's radio program. The subject was how would voters vote when the two candidates were equal. Every call in (100% Black) said without hesitation that they would always vote for the black candidate on the basis that their agenda would be one to help Blacks. They were strongly vocal that white politicians could not represent their needs as well as a Black politician. The call ins were from all parts of this country.
Sharpton asked one call in if this was racist on their part to vote for the black candidate. Without hesitation, they replied No.
I concluded from this program that Blacks are going to vote overwhelmingly for the black candidate and if the candidate is white, they will vote Democratic.

The question is of course obvious... Black and white candidate same record, same on issues, equal qualifications, political twins. Now Lotowner how do you vote? Be honest now, the Lord knows your heart.

That's a strawman argument trick (a favorite device used by Mr Obama), there are never egual candidates..........so the content of character, integrity, common sense programs etc etc is the answer. Put me in Ok and I vote for JC Watts, or in La and I vote for Honnre (sp) if he runs,or in NJ (?) and i vote for Steele...............what's your point? Is everyone who is not a Dem a racist?

If JC Watts were running for a national office or locally, he would have my vote. Does that answer your question?

Lotowner is who made the comment about blacks on Sharpton's show all voted for the black over the white if the candidates were "equal". Sorry I was so stupid to follow his lead. Sure I know two people are never exactly equal in real world. So how would you vote in the same situation in a parallel "unreal" world. Amazing how you folks always avoid answering the question by questioning the motive of the question and the quistioner even though it is asked in response to a comment from one of your allies.

I agree with you Hound ... using callers to Sharpton's radio show to determine how black people think ... makes as much sense as using callers to Limbaugh's radio show to determine how white people think. Both radio shows represent the extremes ... and most people fall more in the middle (center/center-right/center-left)

You know, I remember Al Sharpton when he got his start back in NYC on the Tawana Brawly case (this is when I was still living in NJ) Off and on he would get involved in racial issues. He makes his money by shaking down companies for money, but threatening them that he will create problems with minorities. He plays to a certain element of the black community. Other than that particular segment, he is ridiculed in the black community. The serious (and educated) black community, who actually lobby and shape policy, keep an arms distance from Sharpton and Jackson.
I know some people here like to think that all black people are not educated, democrat voting, welfare based, but in reality, that is far from the truth.

I have no idea how blacks think ... just like I have no idea how whites think .. because ultimately ... blacks don't think in one specific way .. just like whites don't think in one specific way .. nor do asians .. nor hispanics .. nor any other demographic

Could make a good run for my vote too. He is a Jack Kemp rather than Dick Cheney Republican. I'd say he is a shade closer to Barack Obama in his political philosophy than to Ms. Bachmann. He was excellent on the Stephanopolous program a few weeks ago and in pretty close alignment with former Rep. Harold Ford who was on the same program.

How ridiculous for TH to say that members of this forum who have a different opinion than her think that all blacks are uneducated . It is a fact that Black citizen's vote Democratic. I know of whites who vote 100% Democrat on their ticket and probably have never voted for a Republican in their life. These are still good citizens. I just disagree with their thought process as to what is the correct direction for this country.
I was a poll watcher in a black voting district and in this district, 95+% of the black voters voted straight Democrat. The group outside the poll handed each voter a recommended voting list which they carried into the voting booth.
It is not a big secret in this country that Blacks vote Democratic and for black candidates. Ask Hillary Clinton as to how this group voted in South Carolina during the primary. The white vote split and the Black majority was the difference in the Obama win.
I also dispute your comments as to whether Al Sharpton has influence in the Black community. Sharpton, Jackson, Young, King's children, and a few others are on major news programs frequently.

J. C. Watts, similar to Harold Ford! I don't think so. Compare the records of Ford and Watts. Very little similarity.

Listen to them sit side by side and discuss the issues of the day with each other. Sure, they each spout thier party line but then go on to get into the details and often end up on common ground.

There you go again Archie, projecting your closet racism on everyone else. You are the one obsessed with the color of a person's skin. I would vote for any person that will support my conservative views regardless of race, color, creed, etc. Its the left that is obsessed with color and race, not the right.

At least you are not putting that on every post any longer. If I helped with that annoying habit of yours then I have helped you a great deal.
Now I have to get back to suing liberals to help rich conservatives keep more money.

Please help me see and understand my bigotry which the man who talks about people "sitting home collecting their guvment checks" so clearly sees in me. Help me overcome my wretched ignorance to be able to see with the insight of MM.

Archie, this is just one of many of your posts on a variety of topics where you imply opposition to Obama is racism, any discussion of the poor is a veiled implication of black people, etc. You've not only done it to me but to several others on the forum as well. I can only conclude that your resorting to calling us racists at every turn is projection of your own deep seated animosity toward blacks and your subconscious belief that everyone is like you. You assume when others oppose Obama it is because they are racists when in fact it is because we love our country and do not believe that statism is the way to go. The color of his skin is immaterial to us but seems to be of paramount importance to you, almost like a weird fixation. Shelby Steele (a black man by the way) wrote a very interesting book that addressed this called White Guilt. You are a poster child for what he wrote about in the book. But I guess since he is conservative his opnion as a black man in America has no validity....I mean, how can you trust a guy that has turned his back on his own people?!??! :-)
OK, now you can come back with some witty response like stupid or some other vacuous statement. I am sadly used to it......
