I just heard on the news that the Obama WH is asking for information on people who are posting information on the Internet or e mail that may be negative toward Health care. Sen. Coronyn (this may not be the right spelling) has written to the WH asking for information as to what will be the actions toward these individuals.
Folks, this is not good for freedom. Watergate tactics with Nixon absolutely terrified the Senate of this country. Yet, we hear little except for Fox News on this latest request from the WH.
Big Brother Obama could turn into something tragic for America. Does he remind you of Chavez in Venezuela and his tactics? This administration does to take lightly to opposition. Remember Joe the plumber or the Fireman from New Haven who talked to the Judicial Committee about Sotomayor.

lotowner: "I just heard on the news that the Obama WH is asking for information on people who are posting information on the Internet or e mail that may be negative toward Health care."
From Breitbart.com - Cornyn was responding to a message on Tuesday from Obama's director of new media, Macon Phillips, who asked on an official White House blog for members of the public to forward questionable claims to the administration.
"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation," said Phillips.
"Since we can?t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we?re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov," said Philips.
JustAGuy: Nowhere in that message/blog does it ask for information about people - it asks people to forward criticisms of the HC plan that seem "fishy". I suspect the WH wants to clarify as many of these innacurate viral e-mails/blogs as possible - they can't rely on snopes.com and our own MythBuster. :)

You are dreaming. The sole purpose of this monitoring program is intimidation. Obama's team is attempting to operate as if DC is Chicago. The hit team does not use guns. They use the media.
This administration is still functioning as if they were still in an election campaign. Pelosi and Reid both have deliberately berated the attendees at the Town Hall meetings as paid disruptor from the insurance companies. I view the majority of them as Americans who disagree with the direction this country is heading.

As the good Senator from Texas stated, ( who happens to have been a district judge), names, email addresses, IP addresses, that have already been collected by the White House will have to accounted for, notified, and the Congress advised as to what the WH plans to do with this information. Simply outrageous and sickening to think while America sleeps, this administration slowly and methodically through lies, deceit and coercion, is eliminating basic freedom and liberty. One day we will awake and find out life is not how we knew it to be.........

When they take the stones from the foundation one at a time, it is difficult to see - when you have an administration that uses a bulldozer it is easier to recognize. That is why we are seeing the backlash at this point. I think a sleeping giant is starting to wake up.

I'm dreaming? A blog post asks people to e-mail the WH if they see viral e-mails/blogs about the HC plan, and you deem this a "monitoring program". Some of you are seeing boogeymen lurking in every shadow.
As for the town hall meetings, I agree with you - I think people who are legitimately concerned are expressing their views - sometimes very heatedly. But I also think that some politically motivated groups are organizing some of these angry folks - and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. You will never hear me defend Pelosi.

It was a White House devised blog that instructed individuals to report not necessarily viral content, but any e-mails or information that addressed healthcare reform that seemed "fishy". Hardly innocent. As a colleague once said to me, if you ain't paranoid, you ain't payin' attention!

Sounds like monitoring what is out there to me as well. I also question how the Gods in the WH can say what is misinformation, when the bill has not cleared Congress yet - are there about 4 or 5 conference bills right now?

One of my favorite sayings is "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not after me". :)

You are right, Just a Guy. And the town hall meetings, while at times heated, are preferable to the ones that Bush used to have when only Republicans or the Military attended. I think if you are the President, you should have to stand before a mixed audience and answer the questions, even when they are heated or inconvenient.
