How we have different standards in this country. If Sarah Palin had made this staatement, the press would have crucified her.
WASHINGTON - President Obama said that comments by Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor in a 2004 speech in which she called for the "castration of all white males until they are no longer dominant," have been "taken out of context" by right wing ideologues. In the speech delivered to the San Juan chapter of NOW, Sotomayor said, "I want to be perfectly clear about this next comment so that there is no mistaking my words to mean something other than what they plainly say: the time has come to end white male oppression by castrating every white male until they are no longer dominant in Western culture. That means forcible removal of their testicles. I realize the brutality of my comment, and I don't know how to say it more clearly." White House spokesman Robert Gibbs agreed with President Obama that the statement "has been taken out of context," and added that Sotomayor "certainly did not mean" that white males should be castrated." Judge Sotomayor was simply saying that there should be room at the American table for diverse cultures, that's all. It is astounding that people are reading 'castration' into it." President Obama told MSNBC: "Look, when Judge Sotomayor appears before the Senate committee, all this nonsense being spewed out by ideologues will be revealed for what it is."

what don't you understand ... when a liberal says something that should not have been said it is just taken out of context. They live by a different standard. They can make outrageous statements, associate with terrorists, deal with corrupt individuals and it is just misinterpreted.
You need to realize they live by a different standard and if you DARE question you must be some sort of racist.

She was spot on. If women ran everything, things would work so much better....
:-) (Sorry, I couldn't resist).

I have two things to say about this ...
First, this sounds so absurd that I would be completely shocked if it turns out that she really said this. I have tried researching this statement, and I can't find any site that has the actual transcript of the speech ... only people outraged at what she said.
Second, if in fact she really did say this, then I think she absolutely should NOT be confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice.
Hound, I agree that things might be better if women ran the world, but please don't joke about our testicles .... that's one joke that we men just can't take. :)

I also thought that this was absurd when I first read. I went to Snopes.com under politics and they confirmed that she had made this statement. This will probably never be mentioned during the Senate hearings starting today.

It will be fun to watch what the liberals say about this and dismiss it as not relavant or meaningless. Although I did hear a few dems talking this weekend pretty tough on her by saying she has some real explaining to do and admitting that "if" she is confirmed it will be very close. That says some dems may see that the Obama honeymoon is over and that things are not looking so rosey and will start to actual vote their beliefs rather than political party lines.
It would be another blow to Obama if she was turned away. Which she should be.

So WW is safe. You however need to get your resume into the Vienna Boys Choir because you will be a soprano if she has her way.
I find it hard to believe she actually said this and is still going to be on the Supreme Court. If this is true and she is confirmed (which she will be) then this is proof positive why you can't trust something as important as the running of government to liberals.
Let's change the quote to Scalia or Roberts and from castrating white males to putting a chastity belt on latina women and close your eyes and imagine the government media uproar. The difference is Republicans are serious people and would never nominate such a person. It is a sad day for this country although I still can't believe the quote regardless of what snopes says.

I contacted Sen. Session's office to see if his office was aware of this quote. I did not get a good feeling after talking to his rep. that his office was even interested in this quote.
