Does anyone know if they still plan on keeping winter pool at 480? I know last year there was discussion on raising it to 485.

I think the rule curve is still 480 and will stay there until the FERC relicensing in 2013(?). What I do not know is whether APCO will request a variance from the rule curve like they did for 2008.

Wasn't there some talk about raising the winter pool level to 483?

APC will not request a variance unless winter pool drops substantially below 480.

Nov 20, 2007 FERC issued a new temporary amendment to the rule curve. It specifically states 483 as the winter water level. I have not heard of nor read anything newer.

Changes to the Rule Curve were temporary due to the drought and only effective until April 28, 2008.

Look on Page 2 Under Licensee's Plan for effective date of Temporary Variance. (November 20, 2007 till April 28, 2008)

Correct, however when that was submitted and approved we were below that level. Before too long, we will see.

Yes we were, but it also allowed APCO to start the refill of the lake a month earlier when history had shown we were getting the rains needed to reach full pool. We all saw how well it paid off too, the longest season in my meomory.

I hope that becomes more the norm. Aside from personally enjoying the lake, as a business I hope a longer season will also translate to more business all around.
