It is the only choice in my area. Customer service is good. You can purchase different speed levels. I have 10 and generally get that speed except on major holidays. The holiday overload makes it mostly unuseable.

Windstream is DSL. yuk Check their customer ratings. Not good. Get Charter if it's available.

Comlink is the only choice for coax wired internet at Castaway. I have it at the office, speed and reliability are good but then again I am hardly ever here! I'm usually in a car or boat!

Com Link is owned by the world famous Mayo Clinic, It was willed to them by the previous owner & founder. As you can imagine, Mayo isn't interested in diversifying into the telecommunications world, so it's for sale. I heard a while back that Troy Cable was interrested but don't know if that's still in the works. If anybody is interrested, make an offer. The company is still being run by the local management in Union Springs.

I've found Windstream's customer service to be outstanding over the last 13 years. The service reps even give me their personal cell number in case I have problems. The only issue I have with them is speed, but that should be changing soon. The tecnician that was out here last week to re-hook up service from our remodel said they are routing fiber optic lines throughout the area and they are required to have it in by the end of the year because of some sort of federal grant for rural areas....I'm really looking forward to that!

Don't get too excited about the fiber. AT&T ran fiber thru Coosa 20 area about 4 years ago and never even turned it up for service. Go figure???
|
From what I understand, they will lose the grant if they don't have it in by the end of the year....that still may happen, but given positives for the company in system value, it seems like a good possibility.
