Shocked I say that none of you "fiscal conservative" wing nut Tea Party fans have lashed out at Sen. Shelby. Is it just that one man's pork is another man's responsible investing? More likely that you, like most of us, (me included) are always ready to "mouth" but seldom willing to put the "money" with it when it gets close to home!

Ah! But I did write to Sen Shelby… a burning, searing, scathing letter about PORK! The Democrats don’t have a monopoly on what’s wrong inside the beltway. Shelby is part of the Republican problem. It seems we cannot count on Shelby listening to the voices from the heartland… mine included.
I got a form letter from him. If I get a more fiscally responsible, conservative choice at the poll… I’m going to send Senator Shelby a form letter.
Furthermore, I do not want the disease ridden, self intoxicated, incumbents to be influencing… or infecting… or bullying… the fresh faces we send to Washington starting next Fall.
The handwriting is on the wall.

More name calling and labeling ...
Conservatives will call out a republican just as much as a democrat when it comes to wasteful spending of tax payer money.
But liberals like yourself only throw darts, will not recognize and admit to the disaster you have created and what a failure your messiah is.
Thank God most people are waking up from this nightmare .... but Old Man Archie will keep to his liberal, socialist beliefs. Government Healthcare is dead and there are so many dems in the hot seat ... the messiah's agenda is finally coming to an end for the good of america.
My son showed me a poll on facebook (the demographics that elected the disaster we have) ... the question was simple ... if the presidential election was held today would you vote for Obama .... 72% answered NO. What a great thing.
But we know you would archie ... hang in there and go down with the ship.

You must havee missed this post on Shelby on 12/15/2009. If we disagree with a vote, we do not hesitate to complain and send a follow up letter to their office. Who else does this??
One of the few editorials in the DECATUR DAILY that I agree with.
Shelby’s ideology just rhetoric
When U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Tuscaloosa, votes against health care reform, he will cloak his vote in a conservative flag. Fiscal responsibility is essential, he will say, as he has said in so many previous votes against spending measures for the poor or the environment.
He voted against the tax rebate stimulus because it was fiscally irresponsible. The Cash for Clunkers program, he said, was sending taxpayer dollars into an “economic abyss.” Environmental regulations are too expensive, and cap-and-trade legislation would be an economic disaster.
Yet on Sunday, Shelby was one of three Republican senators who voted in favor of a $1.1 trillion spending bill.
The reason for the vote is no mystery. He was successful in loading it with earmarks for Alabama and, especially, for his hometown of Tuscaloosa. He is against increasing federal debt and expansive government — unless it provides him with Alabama votes or another Tuscaloosa building named in his honor.
In 2007, Shelby posed this question in a newsletter to constituents: “We must ask ourselves a difficult question: Should we continue to fund programs that are politically advantageous or should we make tough decisions to cut spending to decrease our ever-growing federal debt?”
He answered that question Sunday.

until we threw Democrats out of Congress in 1994, then saw the light and joined the GOP. I personally think he 'weather vanes' and is one of the reasons the tea party movement and pro 'term limit' advocates are gaining traction.. I'm afraid that Senator Richard Shelby still does not hear us.. or worse, does not care..

Lately I've found the "jokes" forum to be more enligtened an more intellectually stimulating than the sorry hateful rants found here.....Now Nesreddin, what say you about the latest antics of your senior Senator?

Not happy. If he has opposition in the next primary I will vote for one of his opponents, and in the general election, should he be the Republican nominee, I will have to weigh my choices very carefully. Life is full of compromises and this is no different. I may end up voting for him but only if he is the lesser of two evils.

I already said .... do you have a reading problem. Unlike you, myself and others have said we are not happy with him, but that is the difference between a conservative and a liberal ... we go on our basic beliefs, not party or people.
Where are you ever condeming the disaster you elected??
Now his new jobs program, because his $800 billion stimulus was a failure .... is full of more jobs destroying policy. The man is anti business and thinks government should control and create jobs and if a company makes money they should be taxed more.
Obama is already going after any not for profit enterprise that makes money and wants that too.

Let me refresh the question posed above that you so artfully avoided answering:
"After your long absence that is the best you can come up with?"
You haven't told us what your Messiah has done lately that is so wonderful. You just search and search until you find something negative about Republicans - but in the case of the gent you rail about, "RINO" seems to be the acronym of choice.
What about the trillions additional debt we are being faced with for mindless federal programs that serve only to reduce our freedom to pursue happiness and foster a dependent society? What do you think about that Archie?
As to the jokes forum vs this one -- while some posts here are a bit overboard it seems to me that your biggest problem with this board is that only Goofy Fishin and Lady agree with you! You don't seem to be able to recognize and accept that most posters here present factual arguments showing the damage the present administration and Congress are doing to our nation.
