Subject:   Glad we fixed our floating dock

Spent several hours last weekend fixing the boards that hold the floats in place.  With the 480 winter pool our floating dock, which sits on a steep slope, is totally out of the water.  Hence the need for the boards to hold the floats in. Unfortunately this year a couple of them came loose and the floats came down.  As with every project at the lake it turned out to be more of a pain than we expected and one of my rubber boots had a leak so the cold water was none too pleasant.

At 483 it is mostly floating.  Of course if the new winter pool is moved to 483 this will no longer be an issue for us which would be nice.  Was also able to move rocks back up next to the seawall and put down new shingles on the steps leading into the lake.  Of course we started the day with the special at Bob's Fine Foods in downtown Dadeville which is always a treat for my cardiologist.

Glad to have my floating dock repaired as well.  Now the test, Will it float?   But, I, for one, will be happy to stay with the 480 winter pool.  I like it.

Mixed emotion here for 480 vs. 483. If 483 really benefits something/somebody, that would be OK. At 483, I can still get seawall/dock work done. Does not affect me much. But, lots that require 480 to make repairs is a different story, probably not anticipated when purchased.
Make it 484 and I can launch all year!

That a primary reason for raising the winter level is so we have a chance for the lake to fill back up to 490'. During a drought. Remember the Alamo...and 2007!! We hope for 484' That would a lot of folks.

Mack, I am in exactly the same position.  At 483 I have year round water but only enough to launch jet skis and canoe/kayaks.  At 484 I can still repair my seawall but also get boats in and out.  For me, 483 would be enough and I think would raise the value of homes in sloughs.  Just a lot prettier to have water out front than mud and a creek.

I just re-read the above post. Makes little sense, because iPad's auto complete drives me crazy. Keeps screwing up my perfect typing! LOL

MM, you should begin every project with a martini.  Then you wouldn't notice the hole in your rubber boot.

Heck, after 3 martinis I wouldn't even need rubber boots!
