Took our inaugural 2022 boat ride today and observed that it appears Kowaliga Restaurant has created a beach area and The Social at Anchor Bay has added colorful picnic tables near the restaurant and along the narrow peninsula jutting into the lake and a sand beach just to the south. Since the outdoor dining and recreation experience created by Herb at The Landing has been so wildly successful are others just being copycats or are they realizing that lake people want a lake experience and not an in-town restaurant at the lake?

Speaking of The Social they were open today and packed to the gills. Glad to see it!  Looking forward to a great summer on the lake.

The Landing is so wildly successful that we don't go anymore.

Likewise!  And I am two miles by car.  Even Thursday nights, which used to be great, are now way too crowded

I hope the success of The Social and other "copycats" might keep at least some of the folks from the other end of the lake from coming to the Landing.  Seeing how Herb was literally almost killing himself to keep it all going, it might actually be good if he had a little less business.  I know it woud be good for the rest of us who used to have to travel at least as far as Kowaliga for a "lake dining experience".  And I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Thursdays.  Just not the same as when it started out being a few long- and old-timers getting together for fellowship and some good food to boot.

The Social and other new spots are being heavily marketed on FB pages associated with the lake. It is a shame that The Landing has become over-crowded, but then look at all the new houses in the various "Willows".  A lot of the new places have live music too.  On one hand, we can wish there were more places to eat closer to home, but is the additional boat traffic, noise and partiers worth it?  They are building a new "family" restaurant over at Catherines.

I've just got to figure out the "good times" to go to the Landing.  A few times last year I would drive over, see the crowd and the line, and head back home.  Really you have to get there at 11:00am friday or saturady, or before 4pm on Thursday.

But this year a new addition that will be interesting.  PIZZA   Maybe they will allow call in orders
