I need to get a recommendation for an electrician on the north end of the lake. I have 3 or 4 small items to be done. Thanks.

Black = hot white = neutral green = ground
Hot and nuetral doesn't really matter with 120VAC.
That's all you need to know to do it yourself.

This old electrical engineer says please don't interchange black and white wires. You'll only do it once!

Those switches HAVE to be wired right, or you will be wired. Trust me!

They will work switched around, but I dont recommend it. Proper polarization is safest. Thats why the neutral/white side of an outlet is longer than the hot/black side, to keep things flowing in the same direction. Have you noticed that many appliances no longer have the "ground" pin? They ground through the neutral side. Neutral and ground are attached to the same side in your box.
Electrical is like Plumbing. It goes in one way, and goes out the other. The ground is equivalent to an overflow.
Other than a few complex 3 and 4 ways, home wiring is easy peasy.

As someone who had an older brother, and a very good friend, get killed by electricity, " when in doubt, don't ". What you don't know, will kill you.
