Twice this week, I've observed boats come flying into our slough at a good rate of speed. One was a bass boat, another was a runabout. Why they felt the need to do this, I have no idea because it is not a particularly long slough, and there is nothing particularlly interesting down here. No rock concerts were scheduled, no fireworks, and we aren't on the big bass tour so no reason to have fly in for a good position. It would be nice to think that people would have consideration when entering a slough to slow down enough not to cause a substantial wake.
With all the discussion against the Marine Police and for personal freedom, you would think that every boater on this lake was the picture of consideration and safety. Not so. The twin of personal freedom is personal responsibility. And a little consideration goes a long way. I can personally promise you that if I cruise your slough, I'm going to do everything I can not to disturb your peace or create a wake that slams your boats into your docks.

that's exactly how i felt when my dog was jumped in her own yard..
i'm thinking this is the advice you would give me if i posted what you just did....
go inside and count to 10 and come back out after the rude boater has gone!
this is all in jest and i have a smile on my face, but you get my point!

Wow! Where were the Marine Police? Why didn't they do something?
Maybe they were too busy harassing innocent citizens.

I personally have no problem with telling people to slow down. Nine times out of ten, people riding pwcs that are the guilty ones. It po's my wife that I sometimes yell at them, but I worked hard for the money it took to buy the place and the lake toys. I will not do it in your slough and I sure as heck don't want you doing it in mine. Go slow in the tail end of Manoy Creek.

My point exactly. It's a little thing, but it's courteous and considerate to slow down. Had another fisherman come by this morning. He was just cruising along, and we exchanged waves.

I was actually referring to Swimmer, but I'd be happy to meet you. We live in Little Kowliga Creek. Tan Sanpan pontoon boat and a blue Nitro bass boat (as of tomorrow). Two dogs usually on the deck, barking.

What are you buying a bass boat for as your DH has no clue how to fish and you can tell him I said that - LOL.
About time he decided to take up fishing again.

pass two no wake buoys in the process? That is what I saw this weekend. Cruising is all well and good, but when your driving at speed less than 20 ft from someones dock/boat in a no wake zone, you are violating boating etiquette in a big way. I usually just wave, which is enough for boats to slow down to see if they know me. Works every time. Of course, that could be why so many boats come by :-).
