Been fishing with my dad since Sunday and have been striking out bad. We are fishing side lined live bait and have fished by the power lines/Dixie Sailing Club, mid-lake near middle island, Blue Creek and some other spots. On Sunday, we were able to find a couple schools, but the last few days, only one or two here and there. We've been fishing some points in about 30'-40' of water, on drop-offs, but just can't find them. In the early morning, we've been trying deep in the creeks/slews, and then moving deeper later in the day. They seem to be scattered though.

Anyone having any luck finding them? Trying to figure out what I'm missing. Thanks!

I'll be out on Lake Martin later today but wanted to relate somethig I noticed fishing Lake Harding. I went out with my friend Ryan Speir on Lake Harding and we found almost all the stripers we caught were at a depth of 22 - 24 ft. But from what I've been told it's less about depth and more about temperture and oxgyen content of the water. It seems stripers are very temperture/oxygen sensitive and I wish I knew the thermal profile on Martin. I should mention that Ryan is a guide on Lake Harding and he knows temperture/depth is the key. We fished with live shad and bream and found hand size bluegill worked the best. We caught 15 or more good sized stripers ( 23 - 25 inch, 6-8 lbs range). If you can talk to someone who's catching them on Martin ask them the depth and fish just above it.

Good luck!

Try the lights at night. I've caught 3 ten pounders in the last 2 trips using small sassy shads fishing for crappie

Yeah, as the week went along, I got the feeling that we were not in deep enough water as I was not seeing schools of fish that I'm used to seeing.

Anyone else have any input?

Since the real summer heat has set in has anyone had any luck fishing for stripers? I know my friend has been night fishing and doing well on Harding but he's fishing at 60 -100 feet with live shad.

Thanks for the information. I haven't had much luck either and my friend and 2 others went out with Dave Hare and they only caught 1 fish in 4 hours! He charges $500/person ...so it was a  6 lbs /$ 1500 or $250/lbs!

I think we need to start fishing at night like my friend. He just texted me and showed that he and his friend just caught 90 striped bass in 2 hours yesterday on Harding!  He uses live shad.
