Boy, someone took his furniture. Cleaned him out. Both his lakehouse and his residence in Vestavia. Lots of valuable stuff is now missing. What a piece of work.

It was his wife, Leslie.

I bet I know what they will do with that stuff they took from their houses before the govenrnment got it. They will sell it and give the money to the poor through his church becuase they are such fine, upstanding citizens of the community.

Nah, Alan told them to take that trash and burn it, he will buy his own stuff and put it in there, maybe a cow hide rug complete with horns in front of the fireplace, a mechanical bull out next to the pool and a lighted dance floor next to the lake, just like a honky-tonk! He calls the place near Nashville Sweetbriar, wonder what he’ll call this place if he gets it? Lake Martin may just make it after all, if he does get the place that is! OK let’s come up with a new name for the place?????????????

since they are such compasionate, charitable people, I am convinced they will donate it all to Childrens Harbor thrift Store, where I can sell it !

What? No sarcasm drip warning?
I really disdain people who wear religion like a costume. Guess the saying of can't judge a book by it's cover fits this situation.

"Lake Martin may just make it after all, if he does get the place that is!"

Lake Martin "made it" a long time ago; now we're hoping to make it back!

As for naming the old Scrushy place, until someone tears it down and rebuilds, no name will be more fitting than "The Lake Martin LaQuinta."

OH come on longtimer you really didn't take that comment literally did you?
Lake Martin was "made" a long time ago, back before the Wall Street Journal ran the article that said it was the best place to retire back way back when, anyone remember that article? Since then she has started down the path she is on only to be stalled out by the current economy, Lake Martin was "made" back before that when you could come here on a Holiday weekend and see two other boats! Tell me I'm wrong!

Of course you're not wrong; that was my point. And no, I didn't take you seriously, but sad to say I'm sure that some who read these posts did.

As for remembering that article, yes I do, and I cringed when it was first released. I also remember:

when Dolph ran the Kowaliga Restaurant

when Toppy ran the marina

Bo Jordan

when there was no stack storage anywhere

when Willow Point was in the planning stages

when you could actually see Chimney Rock (it's blocked by a pine tree now, and I hope that changes.)

when Castaway had water slides and other attractions

when three boats at the Rocks was a huge crowd, but it was okay because chances are you knew everybody anyway

Anyone have any others? I like walking down Memory Lane.

The best part about this whole story is how wrong and off base it is. Every single stick of furniture is still in his lake house. Nice try though

I remember all of those. And I would like to add a few more:

bridge-to-bridge ski races
McCain's Hardware
Dick Pope Jr. skis

How do you know this? I can not debate it with you since I personally do not know, but the Birmingham News reported the opposition lawyers stating the Lake Martin house was bare to the walls. ??? I think the same was reported about the Vestavia house.

We have a lakehouse in Willow Point. When we go walking in the mornings we walk down the point to scrushy's house. From the end of his driveway you can clearly see all his furniture in the same place its been in since he bought the place. Also, his wife and kids were down the other weekend and had the ski boat out that is now parked in the boathouse.

Once again, the Bham news shows how well they check out sources.

5-digit phone numbers.

Hey Uncle Sam, I guess we're the only two old-timers still here! I wonder if anyone else even remembers when the current Kowaliga Bridge was the "new Kowaliga bridge."

I started a new thread so we could move this up for others to see.

I attached an invetory list with pictures of what was supposedly found at the Lake House.

It looks a little skimppy for such a huge place, but I would not say it was stripped to the bare walls either. LOL
