I have been watching the fishing threads and decided to head over to the Holiday Shores / Lake Martin Trading Company and get some of Jim Law's custom lures. Friday night I spoke with Mike the owner of the store (retired National Guardsman).

I picked two lures and went fishing yesterday. Cloudy, drizzle and warm.. in the 60's and the water temp at 54 degrees.

I used the 1.5 oz Shad Spoon and began trolling. Literally within 1 min of putting out the line / lure I had "fish on".. I was like no f'n way!

I trolled the Sandy Creek area of the lake at midday foir two + hours dragging these two lures and a Rapalla deep diver shad and caught over 10 fish...

Great winter day out on the lake..

I fish a old used 12' jon boat that my boys worked on and refurbished for Boy Scout merit badge project.

At what speed were you trolling?  I’ve bought some of the same spoons and have had some success jigging them but have not tried trolling.

Slow trolling between .5 and 1 mph. This style is called dead sticking. You can use spoons, jigs, flukes. Similiar style as live bait guys use for stripers, get in an area where you have located fish and slow troll the area. I will do this when fishing by myself, I will put another rod in the holder while verticle jigging with a spoon. You can get bonus fish
